Claudia finished every last bite of her meal.

York barely touched his.

When they left the restaurant, Claudia was heading back to the Watkins family home, and York insisted on driving her.

At 3:00 p.m., in front of Watkins Villa.

Claudia's parents, having heard the news, were waiting anxiously at the door.

Seeing York and Claudia get out of the car together, their expressions instantly changed.

York placed Claudia's suitcase by the door and greeted them, "Dad, Mom."

Felix sighed. "Now that you're divorced, you should both go your separate ways. There's no need for you to come here anymore."

With that, he took the suitcase and turned to go inside.

When Jessica also turned to leave, York's eyes reddened. "Mom," he called out.

Jessica paused. "Now that you're divorced, I can't accept you calling me that. Please don't call me 'Mom' anymore."

York stood at the gate, watching Claudia's parents disappear inside, a wave of sadness crashing over him.

Growing up, his grandfather and father had been exceptionally strict with him. His own parents argued constantly. It was only at the Watkins' home that he had ever felt the warmth of a normal family.

Claudia's parents had always been fond of him. They praised him when he did well on exams and were proud of him when his company succeeded. They treated him like a son, but he had let them down and disappointed them.

York called out to Jessica's retreating back, "Mom, I swear I'll earn your acceptance again."

Jessica paused for a beat but didn't turn around.

Though Claudia didn't want to say it, she felt it was necessary to be clear with York.

"York, stop being so stubborn," she said. "The moment I decided to leave you, I never planned on looking back."

As she turned to leave, York grabbed her wrist.

Claudia pulled her hand away. “Ann must be so thrilled you’re finally divorced from me that she’s probably halfway healed already. Why don’t you go celebrate with her?”

York stood before her, at a loss for words.
