At two-thirty in the afternoon, Ann let York talk her into entering the therapy room.
Half an hour later, Claudia had successfully hypnotized her.
With Claudia's help, York guided Ann into revealing all the truths he needed to hear.
Claudia was shocked. Ann, who seemed so foolish and timid, harbored such a venomous heart, having committed so many filthy, despicable acts.
She had even schemed and plotted, at the cost of human life, just to marry into a wealthy family.
The therapy session, originally scheduled for forty minutes, stretched to an hour and a half.
Looking at Ann sleeping on the therapy bed, Claudia stopped York. "She's about to wake up. You can't continue."
York put away his voice recorder and pulled Claudia into the restroom.
He closed the door behind them. "You heard everything Ann just admitted. This is why I kept her around."
Claudia stood at the sink, disinfecting her hands.
"York, I'm not interested in what's between you two," she said. "She's waking up soon. You should get out of here."
York grabbed her arm, turning her to face him.
He struggled to contain his emotions, his voice strained. "Claudia, I know I wasn't strong enough before because of Ann. I hurt you, and I regret it more than anything. But I never wanted to leave you for her."
"I know you haven't forgiven me yet," York continued, "but I'll wait. I'll do whatever it takes to earn your forgiveness. Can you please not be so cold to me?"
Claudia pushed him away, her expression serious. "York, not every mistake deserves forgiveness. Stop being so stubborn."
Before she could finish, they both heard a faint noise from outside.
York opened the restroom door and saw his assistant, Mira, coming in. They exchanged a glance, and Claudia walked out of the restroom.
