"York Ferguson!" Claudia tossed her umbrella aside and started pounding on the locked car door.

Ever since Ann went to prison, York's mood had become erratic. He used to be the picture of calm, even if the sky were falling, but now he flew off the handle at the slightest provocation.

Rock Sayer suddenly tumbled out of the other side of the car.

Claudia hurried around the back of the car to help him up. "Let me see. Where are you hurt?"

Rock quickly pulled a small mirror from his pocket to fix his hair. "Claudia, he completely smeared my sunscreen!"

Claudia was speechless.

He clutched his chest, grabbing her hand pitifully. "Claudia, he tried to kill me."

Hearing the car door open behind them, Claudia turned around.

York adjusted his tie and walked over to her.

With a serious expression, Claudia confronted him. "Rock didn't do anything to you. What gives you the right to hit him?"

York's dark gaze fixed on her. "He fought back. It was mutual."

Rock was so angry he nearly jumped out of his skin. "You expected me not to fight back? I'm not your punching bag!"

Fearing they would start fighting again, Claudia grabbed Rock and started to leave.

York took an umbrella from his driver and held it over Claudia's head. "The rain's getting heavier. Let me walk you to your car."

Rock snorted, then took off his jacket and held it over Claudia's head.

York stood frozen in the rain, umbrella in hand, watching Claudia press close to Rock as they ran to her car together.
