Obedience No More He's the One I Deserved novel Chapter 251

Dawn made a soft sound of acknowledgment and closed her eyes with relief.

Ethan carefully placed her on the bed, pulled the covers over her, then turned to adjust the heater to a comfortable temperature.

When he turned back around, she had her head tilted against the pillow, her brown hair cascading loosely to one side, her bright eyes fixed on him.

His heart suddenly softened. He walked over in two strides, reaching out to brush the long hair away from her face.

He asked in a hoarse voice, "Did I wake you?"

Dawn shook her head, her voice muffled.

"Where'd you go just now?"

"I went to see Micah. His injuries aren't serious, so you don't need to feel guilty."

Dawn hummed in acknowledgment, then lifted her head and rested her chin in his palm. "But it's kind of strange. He's been back in the country for so long without any real business to take care of. So what did he come back for?"

Although Ethan and Micah were close friends, Micah had his own brother, so these matters weren't really Ethan's place to manage.

"Is he planning to settle down here permanently?"

Dawn continued her train of thought aloud. "But that doesn't explain why he follows you around every single day. Unless he ... "

She didn't finish the last two words.

She noticed Ethan's eyes had taken on a dangerous glint.

Ethan was amused by her quick read of the situation. He reached out and tapped her forehead. "What nonsense are you thinking? His brother's never around, and he doesn't have any friends here. There aren't many people he can hang out with."

Put that way, it made sense.

Dawn laughed awkwardly. "Okay, okay, so I misunderstood.

"Well, since he's willing to stick by your side anyway, why don't you find him a job? That way he won't have all this pent-up energy to burn, and he'll stop giving me a hard time every time he sees me."

Ethan raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

He tucked in the covers. "Go to sleep."

Dawn's wide eyes gazed at him. "Think about it seriously, okay?"

This matter required no consideration.

The next day, Micah received an employment letter from Jackson Group.

Micah's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "What? Security guard? I graduated from a world-class university, and you want me to be a doorman at Jackson Group?"

He flung it aside. "I'm not doing it!"

Tony was extremely good-natured and picked it up with a smile on his face.

"Mr. Micah, you don't have to go."

Micah turned his head away, but his eyes rolled back to glance at him, waiting for the rest.

Tony said with a smile, "But the boss said that if you don't report for duty today, you'll be permanently blacklisted from Jackson Group. That includes headquarters and all subsidiary locations. You won't be able to enter any of them."

Micah stared at him in disbelief.

Micah closed his eyes and sighed inwardly. How sneaky and shameless!

News of Micah starting work quickly reached Dawn, and she couldn't help but laugh as she looked at her phone. Talk about karma.

Dawn found it quite entertaining and took a photo with her phone before walking over.

As if sensing something, Micah lifted his head just as she approached.

Their eyes met, and both froze for a moment.

Micah sat up straight. His security uniform hung crookedly on him, which added a rebellious edge to his appearance. He said impatiently, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm not here for you, so why do you care what I'm doing?"

Dawn snorted, raised her chin, and was about to walk past.

This proud attitude made Micah click his tongue twice. "Come back, come back. You need to sign in. Don't you understand the procedures?"

"I don't." Dawn blinked. "I'm here to see my husband. If you've got nothing better to do, maybe you should brush up on the boss's family relationships instead of looking at that stuff. It's useless."

Micah followed her gaze to the table and glanced at the magazine. The female model on it was dressed in provocative, revealing clothing, the kind that could make any man's blood pump with just one look.

His face suddenly flushed bright red, and he snapped in embarrassment, "Get lost!"

Dawn rolled her eyes. Before leaving, she tossed one of the lunch boxes she was carrying onto the table.

She had been in the elevator for quite a while before Micah finally picked up the lunch box.

"Ugly.

"What kind of food did she order? It smells terrible!"
