Obedience No More He's the One I Deserved novel Chapter 341

Maybe I should get some medicine and poison him so he can't talk.

Dawn almost laughed at her own thought.

Closing the book, she pushed back her chair and headed downstairs.

The man downstairs heard something and looked up. When he saw her, he waved her over. When she walked over, he tapped the papers on the table.

"It's almost done. These need your details. You can go abroad in ten days, the fastest."

"Ten days."

That timing was way too crazy.

Dawn smiled, though she wasn't sure why.

She flipped absently through the pages—all forms and paperwork in Atlantean, enough to make anyone's head spin. "Got it. I'll fill them out later."

Jonathan frowned as if he wanted to say something.

He didn't speak for a long time, so Dawn said, "Hesitating isn't your style, Mr. Curran. Just say it."

"Ethan."

Jonathan frowned harder, his voice lower. "He is getting engaged."

Dawn kept flipping the papers, the pages moving fast in front of her eyes.

"I know." Her lips curved into something between a smile and a grimace—or maybe it held no emotion at all. "Didn't they tell you? Roxanne came by this morning.

"They're getting married, and all of you can't wait to make sure I know ... "

She looked up. Her eyes were red even though she was still smiling.

"So eager to see me fall apart, huh? You're the ones who caused all this—this was your plan from the start. You should be proud."

Funny, actually.

What was she to them?

A toy.

A chess piece.

If only this chess piece could be more numb, more robotic.

What a shame.

Dawn stared into Jonathan's eyes. Her pupils were tight like she was holding everything in, but she still didn't blink. "You can't control me forever. Whatever you guys took from me, I'm going to take it back. One by one."

Then, she turned and went upstairs.

Maybe Jonathan thought the situation was settled.

The next few days, he barely checked on her. He was in and out like a ghost, like he never existed.

Dawn was free to move around now, but she had nowhere to go.

Just then, Victor brought unexpected news.

"Mrs. Jackson has been looking for you, Ms. Porter. Do you want to see her?"

Mrs. Jackson ... Tara?
