Obedience No More He's the One I Deserved novel Chapter 343

"So you're making up for not dating in your early years by cramming it all in now, is that it? Huh?"

And all of it headed straight to the finish line!

Marriage, divorce, and now an engagement!

What does he think Dawn is?

Ethan looked up, his mother's anger reflected in his eyes.

After a while, his Adam's apple moved. His voice was low and rough, as if holding something back. "This is between us. Stay out of it."

"Stay out of it?" The anger Tara had partly reined in flared again. She said coldly, "If I stay out of it any longer, you're gonna blow this whole thing up. I seriously don't get you. What the hell do you want? Huh?

"I don't care what you want to do. You have to call off the engagement with Roxanne. I won't agree to it."

Ethan's voice was firm. "The date is set."

"So what? If you can announce it like it's a joke, you can cancel it like one too!"

Tara was really mad this time, not joking around. "I'm telling you, not asking. If you won't make the announcement, I will. Let's see if you're going to choose that woman over your own mother!"

She said this partly because she truly believed Roxanne wasn't right for him.

And partly because ...

Had Ethan lost his mind?

If he really had feelings for Roxanne, he wouldn't handle things so carelessly!

Ethan's eyes darkened. He gritted his teeth in frustration. "Mom!"

"What?"

Tara had no intention of dragging this out. She picked up her bag. "You have three days. If it's not done, I'll make sure you remember—your mom is always your mom!"

She turned, her heels clicking briskly.

She'd never butted heads with her son like this before.

She'd built up all that momentum; she couldn't let it fade. The longer it went, the more her nerve might waver.

At the door, she paused suddenly and looked back. "By the way, I'm bored. Clear your schedule and take me around. Or I'll tell the media what an ungrateful son you are!"

Then, Tara quickly left. She was sure Ethan and Dawn had some misunderstanding.

Once they cleared it up, everything would be okay, right?

Early the next morning, Dawn got a call from Tara. She said the weather was nice and wanted to go camping somewhere nearby.

Dawn didn't know why, but she had a strong feeling Ethan would go too.

Before she even answered, Tara said in a sad voice, "Dawn, you're not going back on your word, are you?"

"No."

Dawn took a breath. "Just send me the location. I'll pick you up."
