Chapter 97
I glanced at the time; it was already 11 PM. Denise and Carlie still hadn’t called me back.
I couldn’t help but feel extremely anxious while waiting.
Was Leland’s medical condition real or fake?
What did he really intend to do?
Was he using Caitlyn to motivate me, or was he helping Caitlyn take my assets knowing he was going to die?

For a moment, I was confused. It wasn’t until the midnight bell rang that I noticed the lights in the yard turn on; Leland and Caitlyn had come back.
I quickly got into bed and pretended to be asleep.
But in my drowsy state, I felt someone sitting beside my bed, stroking my hair, and kissing my forehead.
I even heard a sobbing sound, which seemed filled with reluctance and sadness.
I tried to wake up, but eventually, I fell into a deep sleep.
When I opened my eyes again, it was Carlie’s call that woke me up.
Kay, I need to tell you, that last night Leland and Caitlyn were at the hospital again. It seemed to be about his illness. Now I’m not sure if his illness is real or not, because the director has changed Leland’s medical records several times.”
I was bewildered.”Carlie, what exactly is Leland’s condition? Why would the director personally alter his records?”
Im not sure about that either, but I can confirm that when I confronted Leland for you, he seemed fine, just a spleen injury. Why is he in a wheelchair now? I really don’t understand. Didn’t you hire some experts? Maybe you should have Leland thoroughly examined this afternoon. I suspect Caitlyn is up to something or they’re conspiring to deceive you!”
I nodded.”Alright, Carlie, thank you for your trouble. This afternoon, I’ll keep Caitlyn busy, and you bring the doctors to give Leland a thorough
examination.”
After arranging with Carlie, I packed up and went straight to the company. However, the house was unusually quiet today, making me feel uneasy. Where was Leland?
Just then, Denise called, “Kay, you need to come quickly. Mr. Pearson and Caitlyn are dealing with the annual meeting themselves. Your parents’ memorial is in two days, and the annual meeting is the day after that, right when you’re supposed to leave. But now they’re openly talking about their affair in front of everyone!”
I was furious, feeling like I couldn’t breathe,
Wait!
“Denise, what did you find out about that Tyrell? If I’m not mistaken, most of the items I auctioned were bought by him. Why is that?” I voiced my suspicion, hoping Denise could help clarify.
