Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 97

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**

**Chapter 97**

It was hardly surprising that Jasper and Alison shared the same bloodline. The resemblance was unmistakable, from the slight curve of their lips to the way their laughter echoed in the same infectious manner.

Just over an hour had passed when Renee emerged from her kitchen, a sense of pride swelling within her. She had crafted an extravagant feast, a veritable banquet that was her way of expressing gratitude to Jasper. Today was special; today she wanted to thank him, and in her mind, it was best to keep Alison away. She feared that if Alison joined them, Jasper might suspect that this lunch was merely a thinly veiled excuse to discuss business.

Yet, if she were to be honest with herself, that was precisely what she intended to do.

“The food’s ready. I’ll fetch the boss,” Luke announced, scrubbing his hands with a sense of purpose.

Renee waved her hand dismissively. “No need for that. I’ll send Ace instead.”

With a determined stride, she stepped out of the kitchen and approached the robot that stood quietly in the corner, its metallic frame gleaming under the kitchen lights. “Ace, please go and knock on the door across the hall. Let Mr. Zeller know that lunch is served,” she instructed, her voice steady.

The robot, previously in a state of stillness, came to life. “Yes, Master,” it responded, its voice monotone yet obedient.

Ace turned on its heel and exited the apartment, its mechanical movements precise. Upon reaching the door across the hall, its sensors honed in on the doorbell. With an almost graceful motion, it extended a finger and pressed the button.

After a brief pause, the door swung open.

“Hello, Mr. Zeller. My master is inviting you to lunch,” Ace announced with impeccable politeness.

Jasper had half-expected to see Renee herself, so when he laid eyes on Ace, a frown creased his forehead. He scrutinized the robot with a curious gaze, his interest piqued by its sophisticated design.

“Alright,” he replied, a hint of intrigue in his voice.

He closed the door behind him and followed the robot back to Renee’s apartment. As he crossed the threshold, the rich, mouthwatering aroma of the food enveloped him, igniting his senses. Even without the visual feast laid out before him, the scents alone were enough to make anyone’s stomach rumble in anticipation.

“Wow, Ms. Whitley, is this really a robot developed by Genome Tech?” Luke exclaimed, his eyes wide with admiration. “Not bad at all. It seems your boss knows her craft.”
