Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 99

**TITLE: Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 99**

Renee’s expression darkened, shadows crossing her features as she spoke with an icy resolve. “Love? No way. From this moment on, it’s all about money. Feelings have no place here.” Her voice was steady, but the weight of her words hung heavily in the air.

Ace, ever the provocateur, shot back with a smirk, “You’re just a money slave, Master.” His tone was teasing, but there was an underlying seriousness that made Renee pause, momentarily speechless.

In a rare twist of fate, a flicker of joy ignited within her. She seized her phone, her fingers trembling with excitement, and dialed Alison’s number, eager to share the exhilarating news that had just unfolded.

On the other end, Alison’s voice burst through the line, vibrant and filled with enthusiasm. “Really? My br—Mr. Zeller actually allowed you to bring the project to Everest Group? How did you manage that?” Her surprise was palpable, and it made Renee’s heart swell with pride.

Renee recounted every detail of her day, her words tumbling out in a rush. “You won’t believe it! I had this brilliant idea, and when I pitched it, he was surprisingly receptive. I think he actually sees the potential!”

Alison’s laughter rang out, brightening the conversation. “No wonder you were so eager to take that robot home last time. Everything makes sense now!” They continued to chat, sharing laughter and excitement, their bond deepening with each passing moment before they reluctantly hung up.

With a sense of restlessness creeping in, Renee decided to switch gears and dial her old phone number, reaching out to Adam. She had heard he had just returned from Irvenia, only to be struck down by a bout of food poisoning. The thought of him lying in a hospital bed, weak and unwell, stirred a mix of concern and frustration within her.

When Adam’s phone rang, he sat up with a jolt, his heart racing at the sight of ‘Renee’ lighting up the screen. “Honey, where have you been? I’ve been trying to reach you for days! I was so worried!” His voice was filled with a mixture of relief and anxiety.

But Renee’s tone was all business. “I’m calling to discuss when you can come to the courthouse. We need to finalize the divorce.” The words felt heavy in her mouth, yet necessary.

Adam’s reaction was immediate and intense. “No, I’m not divorcing you!” He clutched his phone tightly, his voice quivering with emotion. “I love you. Only you. There’s no way I’ll let this happen!”

Renee hadn’t anticipated his stubbornness. A deep breath steadied her resolve as she replied, “Mr. Graham, you’ve already announced our divorce publicly. I expect you to honor that promise.” Her voice was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

“That was just a desperate delay tactic. Renee, how could you even think that…” His voice trailed off, laced with a mix of disbelief and desperation.
