Oops I Accidentally Ended Her Fake Perfect Life novel Chapter 13

**Across the Fallen Golden Kingdom Distant Fires by Damon S. Creed**

Icy water surged into Nora’s nostrils, a frigid rush that sent her into a panic. She choked, her body thrashing helplessly, teetering on the brink of submersion.

At the far edge of the pool, Chase lounged, one arm casually draped around Camila’s shoulders as if they were watching a mundane spectacle.

“You splashed water on Camila’s face, Nora,” he called out, his tone almost mocking. “Now you can drink all you want.”

“Nora,” he continued, his voice laced with a chilling calmness, “I warned you: everything comes with a price.”

Suddenly, a deafening ring pierced through the chaos, drowning out their taunts. The world around her faded into a distorted blur, voices melding into an indistinct static.

All that remained was an unbearable weight of regret—an overwhelming, gut-wrenching sorrow that twisted in her stomach.

Why had she clung so desperately to someone who had never truly cared for her?

What had she earned for her misplaced affections? Disgrace. Humiliation.

From the very start, loving Chase had been a catastrophic misstep.

Time slipped away from her as she floated in a haze, disoriented and adrift, until the guards finally yanked her from the water’s grasp.

By the time they pulled her out, the sky had surrendered to darkness, an oppressive shroud that blanketed the evening.

Still choking on the remnants of the pool, Nora stumbled up to the second floor, only to be met with the sound of low moans and laughter spilling from the master bedroom.

“Chase, this is your new home with your wife… are you really okay with me sleeping in your bed?” Camila’s voice was playful, flirtatious.

“Don’t fret about her,” Chase replied, his tone dismissive. “As I said—every bed I own should carry your scent.”

“Oh, you’re terrible~” Camila giggled, her laughter dripping with intimacy.

Each sound pierced through Nora like shards of glass, cutting deeper than she thought possible. The last flicker of warmth in her heart crumbled to ash, leaving her hollow.

Sliding down against the wall, Nora felt the chill of the floor seep into her bones. She fumbled for her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed.

“Lena,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “Can the clerk’s office at the county courthouse move up our divorce hearing? I… I can’t take this anymore.”

Her voice quivered, and though tears streamed down her cheeks, she stifled any sound.

“There’s nothing available tomorrow, but I can fit you in three days from now,” Lena responded, her voice tinged with concern. She sensed the gravity of Nora’s distress. “We’ll make it happen.”

“Okay. Three days, then.”

Nora hung up, her body sagging against the unforgiving floor, utterly defeated.

She had never felt this drained, this broken.

She had been so misguided—so profoundly wrong.

The belief that love could somehow reclaim love was the cruelest deception of all.

Leaning into the corner, she felt disoriented and lost, her mind swirling with despair until a sudden shriek shattered the stillness from above, followed by the violent slam of the bedroom door.

“Nora!” Chase stormed out, his eyes ablaze with fury. “Why the hell was there a needle in Camila’s nightgown? Did you put it there?!”
