Oops I Accidentally Ended Her Fake Perfect Life novel Chapter 18

**Across the Fallen Golden Kingdom Distant Fires by Damon S. Creed**

**Chapter 10**

Camila spent the entire night in the dimly lit restaurant, her heart heavy with worry. The hours dragged on like an eternity, each tick of the clock amplifying her anxiety.

From the moment the sun dipped below the horizon until the first light of dawn broke through the windows, Chase remained absent.

Just as the first rays of sunlight painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, her phone finally buzzed to life. The message was stark and urgent:

“Come to the Whitmore estate. I need to talk to you.”

With a sense of foreboding, Camila made her way to the estate, the weight of her thoughts pressing down on her. As soon as she stepped through the grand entrance, a vase hurtled toward her, shattering just inches from her feet. Stumbling back, she gasped in disbelief.

“Chase! What on earth are you doing?!” she exclaimed, her voice a mix of shock and anger.

He stood there, a storm of rage and hurt swirling in his eyes, as he threw a flash drive at her feet, his tone as frigid as the winter wind.

“See for yourself.”

With trembling hands, Camila plugged the drive into her phone.

Suddenly, the speakers erupted with a woman’s heart-wrenching sobs, the sound so raw and anguished that it made her flinch and drop the drive.

“W-What… what is that sound…” she stammered, instinctively reaching for Chase’s arm, desperate for reassurance.

But instead, he shoved her aside, his expression a mixture of fury and betrayal.

“You’re trembling from just the sound? What do you think will happen when you sent those men to touch her?!” His glare was like ice, piercing through her defenses.

Camila felt a jolt of panic. “I didn’t! Those men were sent by you, Chase! What does that have to do with me?”

“I only told them to scare her—grab her and shake her up a bit. I never told them to actually touch her!”

Chase’s eyes narrowed, suspicion clouding his judgment.

“Tell me now—was it you?”

“No!” she retorted, her voice firm despite the turmoil inside her.

Camila stood her ground, unyielding. “This has nothing to do with me! That video could be a fabrication for all we know. Nora could have staged it to make you feel sorry for her!”

“You know what she’s like! She’s never liked me. She’s always tried to ruin me. This is her game—twisting the truth, manipulating everyone around her, crafting a sob story!”

“If you believe her, then you’re playing right into her hands!”

Chase’s resolve, once ironclad, began to falter. Camila’s words resonated with a strange logic.

Nora had indeed been behaving erratically of late, her hostility palpable. Perhaps this was yet another act—an elaborate performance designed to draw him back in.

And that part where she appeared to float, as if someone was lifting her? How could that even be real?

The more he pondered, the more the panic and guilt that had consumed him began to dissipate.

“I’m sorry, Camila. I lost my temper; that’s all. Can you forgive me?”

A flicker of bitterness flashed in Camila’s eyes, yet she managed to maintain a sweet smile.

“It’s okay. She’ll come back when she calms down.”

“And you totally left me hanging at the restaurant last night. You ditched me all night—you owe me today. Big time.”

Her playful smile melted away the last of Chase’s lingering doubts.

“Alright. What kind of apology do you want?”

“I want you all to myself. The entire day.”

“You got it.”

Chase devoted the entire day to Camila’s side, but his phone seemed to have a mind of its own, ringing incessantly.

Every thirty minutes, another report rolled in.

“Sir, we’ve searched every inch of the estate—the stables, the barns, even the ravines. No sign of Mrs. Whitmore.”

“Sir, we dispatched helicopters and drones to the private island. Still no trace of her.”
