Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 183

Even Marico lowered his eyes, glancing over at Yvonne beside him.

Right now, Yvonne’s position was like she’d just escaped the frying pan only to land straight into the fire.

Everyone in the room stared at her with all sorts of suspicion and scrutiny, as if their gazes alone could push her right into the eye of the storm.

And after her accidental tumble into Marico’s arms just moments before, she didn’t even have to guess—everyone must have silently judged her a hundred times over by now.

Yvonne drew a slow, steady breath, holding up her blank speech notes. “Director Linda, as both a director and a key spokesperson for the company, it’s highly unprofessional to drop the ball at such a critical moment. If I hadn’t stepped in to save the situation, our company would have lost face in front of the world’s leading businesses.”

“You come off as a more convincing victim, I’ll give you that. But I have my own perspective.

I suspect you’ve been bribed by corporate spies—deliberately triggering your allergic reaction to sabotage our expansion, then playing the victim. As for my presentation just now, those were points I remembered from earlier press releases and our previous trilateral meeting—purely improvisational.”

“If you’d like, you can send out your original speech. We can compare the two and see if I had any chance to steal it in advance.”

Yvonne’s voice rang out clear and unwavering. She explained everything calmly, without over-defending herself, and deftly turned the spotlight back onto Linda.

Linda barely made it through the accusation that she’d been bought off—she practically jumped from her seat.

“Mr. Hamilton, I would never betray this company! I’ve never even considered it!” Linda’s voice grew shrill, and with her face swollen beyond recognition, her agitated expression struck almost as comical.

Yvonne gave her no chance to wriggle out. She coolly pressed, “Then why did your accident happen right before you were supposed to go on stage?”

“One more thing, Mr. Hamilton,” Yvonne added, “I’d like to request the police investigate so I can clear my name. I was never alone after arriving at the venue—security cameras can confirm that.”

“Understood. William,” Marico replied, granting her request.

He instructed William to call the police and assist with the investigation.

Such a clumsy setup—once they checked the surveillance footage, the truth would be obvious.

“Mr. Hamilton... I have no grudge against Yvonne. Why would I frame her? If the project fails, I’m responsible too. There’s no reason I’d risk my life for something like this,” Linda protested, her voice growing hoarser with every word.

“Let’s let the evidence speak for itself. We’ll review the security footage and get to the bottom of this. Hand over the coffee you drank to William for testing,” Marico said coolly, his tone utterly devoid of warmth.
