Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 648

In the towering and majestic Stone Corporation building, Lambert stood by the floor-to-ceiling window of his office, his brows deeply furrowed. A pile of documents lay scattered across his desk, yet he had no mind to deal with any of them. His attention was almost entirely fixed on his phone.

Unfortunately, after seeing the call go unanswered for the fourth time, a trace of impatience finally flickered across his usually composed face. Without hesitation, he dialed another number—this time reaching the driver.

Only after confirming with the driver that Madam Ariana was safely seated in the car did he let out a quiet sigh of relief. Since Ariana wasn’t answering his calls, he knew all too well that she must be upset.

He instructed the driver and the bodyguards to take good care of her, deliberately avoiding any request to pass the phone to Ariana himself. There was no point in forcing a conversation when she clearly didn’t want to speak to him.

The driver quickly assured him that Madam would be well looked after. Lambert ended the call, staring at the screen as the words "Call Ended" flashed before him. A faint, self-deprecating smile tugged at his lips.

Just then, his assistant, Assistant Hills, pushed the door open. Spotting his boss idly fiddling with his phone by the window, Assistant Hills’s lips twitched in silent exasperation. Still, he dutifully announced, "President Stone, the documents just arrived."

Lambert glanced at him coolly. "Unsigned."

Assistant Hills: "..."

'Unsigned, and he says it like it’s nothing.' Assistant Hills couldn’t help but recall the icy reprimand he’d once received for forgetting to sign a single document—an oversight that had delayed an entire project. The injustice stung, but what could he do? The man was his boss.

His *very* demanding boss.

So even if said boss was slacking off, all Assistant Hills could do was swallow his grievances and wait.

Just as Assistant Hills was about to leave, Lambert suddenly called out to him. Assistant Hills turned around with a puzzled expression. Lambert studied him for a moment before asking, "What kind of dishes can you cook?"

Assistant Hills hesitated. "...Only Cantonese cuisine, President Stone."

Who on earth had told the boss about this?!

Lambert gave a slight nod. "Ariana hasn't had much appetite lately. Come to my place tomorrow and prepare a Cantonese meal—let's see if she likes it."

Assistant Hills was speechless. 'I'm an assistant, not a private chef, President Stone!'

He'd heard stories about assistants who juggled multiple roles—handling personal errands for their bosses, even taking charge of their meals. But he never imagined it would happen to him. After all, President Stone lived in the Stone family estate. With their resources, they could hire any top-tier chef imaginable.

As for personal matters, the Stone Family household had an army of servants and butlers to handle daily affairs. An old-money family like theirs certainly didn't need his help with such trivialities.

Yet here he was, reduced to this very role!

Lambert added, "If Ariana enjoys the meal, I'll count it as overtime for you—with five times your usual pay."

Assistant Hills's eyes instantly lit up. "Absolutely! Should I go directly to the Stone Family residence or your private home tomorrow?"

"My private residence," Lambert replied.

He had been planning to move out of the family estate with Ariana soon. Her spirits had been low lately, and he hoped a change of scenery might help. Now that she was carrying his child, her emotional well-being was his top priority—especially since she'd been giving him the cold shoulder recently.

The thought unsettled him deeply.

With Assistant Hills's new culinary duties confirmed, Lambert dismissed him. Assistant Hills left the office practically floating on air, delighted by the unexpected windfall.

As Lambert's personal assistant, his salary was already substantial, not to mention the overtime pay that often exceeded his regular earnings.

A fivefold increase?

Considering he was about to become Lambert's brother-in-law, Nathan felt it was only natural to express his mild irritation.

Unaware of his thoughts, Lambert assumed the other man was deliberately picking a fight.

His smile cooled slightly as he replied, "Indeed. I can't compare to President Harper's leisurely schedule."

Nathan's expression darkened.

Noticing the shift, Lambert's eyes flickered with faint mockery.

Suppressing his anger, Nathan swallowed his dissatisfaction and steered the conversation toward business. "I was wondering if President Stone would care for a drink tonight?"

Lambert fell silent.

A bemused smile tugged at his lips as he studied Nathan, utterly perplexed by his intentions.

Logically, shouldn't they be discussing the recent joint project between the Harper and Stone Corporations?

Had he misread the situation?

Lambert narrowed his eyes.

Did Nathan really think he had time for idle chatter?

Oblivious to Lambert's impatience, Nathan pressed on, "I’ve heard so much about you from Irene. I only just found out you two are acquainted. Why not let me host tonight? We can have a proper chat."
