The conflict between a daughter and a wife is something no man can accept. Even though Georgia and he are divorced, he doesn't want to see this scene. At the very least, he doesn't want Georgia to actually die because of a moment of impulsiveness.
If that really happened, Ariana would likely carry a shadow in her heart for the rest of her life.
He knows his daughter.
On the surface, she seems unaffected, but deep down, she's still soft-hearted.
As time passed, Georgia's expression grew increasingly frenzied and agitated, and the hand holding the knife was slightly unsteady. Gilbert feared something might actually happen, but he didn't know how to persuade her, so he could only stand there in silence.
His fingers were anxiously clenched tight.
"Alright." Ariana looked at Georgia for a long time. Just when Georgia was losing control of her emotions, Ariana finally spoke.
Georgia was momentarily stunned.
Even Gilbert was taken aback.
He glanced at his daughter and ultimately didn't say a word.
Georgia was initially overjoyed, but then she seemed to realize something and said incredulously, "You... agreed?"
Ariana looked calmly at Georgia before her and said, "As long as you don't regret it."
Georgia's face turned pale at once.
She looked at Ariana in terror and shrieked, "What do you want to do? What do you want to do to Irene? I'm telling you, if anything happens to Irene, I will take revenge on you even if it costs me my life!"
Ariana remained expressionless.
She looked coldly at Georgia and said word by word, "I don't want to do anything."
There was still suspicion in Georgia's eyes.
She gripped the knife a bit nervously, her gaze occasionally distracted and uneasy.
Ariana noticed her expression and couldn't help but pull at the corner of her mouth.
With a serious expression, she said, "I can drop the charges. But are you sure she can handle the public opinion that will follow if I do?"
Georgia was somewhat bewildered...
She had no idea what Ariana was talking about. She swallowed uneasily, her eyelashes drooping continuously. She couldn't help but think, maybe Ariana was just trying to scare her on purpose. Or even if she wanted those high-society people to disdain Irene for what she's done, it wouldn't matter much.
She could just send her abroad.
As long as she wasn't in prison, her life wouldn't be ruined.
Thinking this, Georgia's gaze gradually cleared. She couldn't help but curl her lips, thinking coldly inside. She knew Ariana would compromise, and if she had known earlier that threats of suicide and social pressure would work, she wouldn't have wasted so much effort before.
She lifted her head and said, "Then drop the charges now! In front of me! Otherwise, I'll kill myself! By then, all those reporters will know that the young madam of the Stone family forced her own mother to death!"
Gilbert's expression turned cold.
He frowned and said, "Georgia, don't you think you're going too far?"
When Georgia saw Gilbert looking at her with such unfamiliar disappointment, she couldn't help but feel a stab of pain in her heart. But she still couldn't back down.
