Chapter 423 A One–Month Buffer
Third Person POV
When Aubrey ignored him, Alpha Henry’s expression turned sullen. He picked up his phone and anonymously posted a question online: “How do I get my fiancée to willingly sleep with me?”
Answers quickly flooded in.
Demon: “What’s there to think about? Pin her down and do it!”
Mateo’s Soldier: “She’s already your fiancée, what are you being so polite for? Girls are just shy. You have to be the one to make a move! You’re a disgrace to us werewolves!”
Charles: “Gems, flowers, and maybe a romantic scene. Set the mood.”
Springdays: “Be more persistent, whisper more sweet nothings, be willing to spend money, spend more time with her. Conquering her is just a matter of time.”
Alpha Henry scrolled down, frowning, his expression as serious as if he were about to start a decisive meeting. His mind rapidly digested the merits of the answers, absorbing them like a sponge, occasionally glancing over at Aubrey.
This made Aubrey feel like she was sitting on pins and needles.
Why did she feel like Alpha Henry was plotting something?
After arriving at the Miguel family residence, Alpha Henry went straight to the study, took out the potion, and drank it, quietly waiting for the sibling contract to break.
However, half an hour later, Barry was thrown out the window. He only managed to land steadily on the ground by shifting into his wolf form.
Aubrey, who saw this, looked confused. “What’s wrong?”
Barry shifted back to his human form and replied, looking aggrieved, “The potion didn’t work. The sibling contract is still there. The Alpha is furious. He said I brought back a fake potion and tricked him.”
Aubrey froze. That shouldn’t be right. She had seen the potion; it wasn’t a fake.
She tried hard to recall information from her past life and vaguely seemed to remember… the contract’s severance wasn’t immediate. It required a one–month buffer period.
She patted Barry’s shoulder and told him to go tell Alpha Henry this.
The moment Barry heard that, he shook his head like a rattle. “Ms. Mary, please, have mercy… You didn’t see the look on the Alpha’s face. If I go back in there now, he’ll definitely beat me to a pulp!”
Aubrey looked at his terrified refusal and sighed, smiling helplessly. “…Alright, I’ll go.”
She walked slowly upstairs and knocked three times on Alpha Henry’s study door, not too hard, not too light. The instant the sound landed, the storm–like, restless Alpha pheromones inside instantly froze, then slowly retracted–he had smelled her.
“Come in.” The voice from inside was still low, but most of the anger was gone.
Aubrey pushed the door open. Alpha Henry was standing by the window, seemingly calm, but his tightly pressed lips still betrayed his anger.
She deliberately sniffed the air. “Why so angry? You even threw Barry out the window, all because the potion didn’t work?”
“You know how desperate I am to end this sibling contract.”
Alpha Henry turned, his tone laced with a vulnerability he only showed to her. “That kid deserved a scare. He’s incompetent.”
“You can’t blame him entirely,” Aubrey explained with a smile. “How could a contract set by th Moon Goddess be so easy to break? I remember hearing about this potion in my past life. It takes a one–month buffer period after drinking it. It doesn’t work immediately.”
“One month?” Henry frowned slightly. “Are you sure?”
“I’m about 70-80% sure,” Aubrey nodded. She then blinked deliberately, her tone lightening. “So, my alpha, be patient. Some things can’t be rushed.”
Meanwhile, downstairs.
Barry also relayed this news to Perry, who was still in Tears Forest looking for the female omega he’d fallen for at first sight.
Hearing the news, Perry’s heart skipped a beat. It’s over.
It couldn’t be that the sip he took earlier caused the potion to fail, could it?
Moon Goddess above! He really hadn’t drunk much. That sip was less than 1ml!
