The atmosphere in the CEO's office felt unusually relaxed.

Christian leaned back in his leather chair, his fingertip sliding across his phone screen. On it was his chat log with Annie.

"Thank you. This is the second time you've helped me. Could I treat you to a meal sometime? I hope it won't bother you too much."

"No need. Just focus on doing your job well."

Christian stared at the polite, distant line of text expressing gratitude, and a warm smile tugged at his lips.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door.

Christian's expression instantly went cold. The warmth vanished as if it had never been there. He locked the phone's screen and set it down on the desk.

"Come in."

Michael entered the office with a stack of files in his arms. He lifted his head and met Christian's blank, cold face, and his heart skipped a beat.

Christian's mood could change faster than anyone Michael had ever seen.

Michael set the documents on the desk and stood respectfully to one side.

Christian picked up the top file and flipped through a couple of pages. His voice was flat, giving nothing away. "Where's Annie? Where is she now?"

Michael answered at once. "A message just came up from downstairs. Mrs. Parker left the office a little while ago. She should be going to Jynston General Hospital."

Christian's fingers paused for a second over the paper, then he gave a brief nod. "How's the investigation on that post coming along?"

Michael straightened his posture. "We don't have an exact IP address yet, but we've narrowed it to the upper floors of the inpatient wing at Jynston General Hospital.

"Our tech team is still figuring out the exact floor, but the ten thousand dollars in Lilian's account has already been confirmed. It was wired directly from Sean's bank account."

Christian let out a cold snort. Who else could it be but Cecilia and Sean?

Those two just wouldn't stop stirring up trouble.

Seeing Christian's face darken, Michael hurried to add, "The police already have people on-site. We should have an update soon."

Christian shut the file and tossed it back onto the desk. He looked up at Michael and said, "Go take care of something for me."
