The fight was brutal from the start. Neither of them pulled their punches. They collided in the center of the ring, fists flying, bodies twisting to avoid blows. Damon landed the first solid hit, a jab to Andrei’s ribs that made him grunt. But Andrei countered with a swift kick that caught Damon in the thigh.
“Get him, Andrei!” Lilith suddenly shrieked, her voice cutting through the grunts and thuds. “Show him who’s the real Alpha!”
I rolled my eyes. Really? Was she really going to turn this into a fucking cheerleading session?
But Lilith was just getting started. With every hit Andrei landed, she let out an ear–piercing whoop, clapping her hands and jumping up and down like a teenager seeing her celebrity crush.
“That’s it, baby! Break his face!”
I clenched my jaw, my irritation mounting. Alina caught my eye and gave me a sympathetic look. At least someone else found Lilith’s behavior as childish as I did.
I wondered, briefly, just how deep the disdain for Lilith ran in her own pack. That audio recording was still waiting to be used, and perhaps using it at just the right moment with the right people could ruin Lilith’s reputation in the same way she’d tried to ruin mine.
In the ring, the fight continued. Both brothers were covered in sweat now, their bare chests glistening in the morning sunlight. Despite my annoyance, I couldn’t help but be impressed by their skill. They moved like dancers, countering and attacking in a perfect, unending rhythm.
But as the fight dragged on, I found my eyes drawn more and more to Andrei.
The way his muscles bunched and flexed with each movement, just like they had when he had thrusted
carried me to bed.
The intensity in his green eyes–the same intensity he had looked at me with in the moonlight.
The power in his limbs as he struck and parried. Just like the powerful thrusts…
My wolf stirred at the sight, restless and hungry. “Look at him,” Onyx purred. “So strong. So powerful. Our mate.”
I mentally shoved her down, but the damage was already done. My thighs clenched together as an unwelcome reminder of the night we’d spent together after the banquet coursed through me.
My body remembered his touch all too well.
Fuck. I looked away, focusing on the dirt at my feet. This was not the time or place for such thoughts. Especially not with Lilith screeching like a banshee just a few feet away.

Heat rushed to my face. I looked away again, cursing my traitorous body and my even more traitorous mind.
