As I was about to step away, a chill ran down my spine, halting me in my tracks. Natalia should have been lost in dreams, yet here she was, softly calling my name. I turned back, a knot of anxiety tightening in my stomach. My mind raced with possibilities—was she on the verge of being sick again? Or perhaps something even more alarming?

“Yes?” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. “What do you need?”

But as I looked closer, it became clear that she was still deep in slumber.

Without waiting for a response, Damon pushed past me and entered the room. I lingered in the doorway, watching as he approached Natalia’s bedside. His face fell, a mix of anguish and concern washing over him as he reached out, his hand hovering just above her face, as if he feared that his touch might shatter the delicate peace of her slumber.
