Regret Came Too Late (Grace and Ethan) novel Chapter 473

Joanne let out a mocking laugh.

"You'd better be sure about this. My methods are not clean, and I don't want you coming for me after you know about them. Mr. Henderson, we're in the same boat right now," she added with a subtle edge in her voice.

There was a chance the plan might backfire, so she wanted to drag someone down with her.

Yancey didn't like Joanne at all. He always felt she was like a deadly snake lurking in the dark—always ready to strike with a fatal bite.

He scoffed. Revenge always had the same tactics—humiliating the target, ruining their reputation, and crushing their spirit until they could no longer piece themselves back together. Maybe it was only then Grace would stop looking down on him.

This was exactly what he wanted. After all, hadn't Grace always looked down on him?

"Just let her stay alive," he replied.

He had plenty of ways to handle things later as no one else was willing to go as far as he was. It was true that Ethan had feelings for Grace, but he would never risk everything for Grace.

But he, Yancey, could do it!

Joanne scoffed under her breath. After hanging up the call, she called someone else.

The best way to ruin a woman was what she did to Andrea, which was to have a few men assault her and spread those videos on the internet for everyone to see.

The moment a woman was associated with a label like "slut", she'd never be able to shake it off.

Joanne didn't think she was being vicious. This was what Grace deserved.

Grace put all her effort into listening to the footsteps outside while gripping the makeshift weapon tightly.

She waited a long time and finally, there was some commotion outside. It was Lucian's voice.

"You guys can go in now. Here's the signal. The temporary site has also been set up. Remember to record every detail and make sure her face is visible. After everything is done, everyone will get another two million dollars each."

"Great! Thanks, Lucian. But aren't you coming in with us? Grace has great looks. She's stunning," one of the men asked.

Another man punched him and retorted, "Don't you know Lucian is a hopeless romantic? He has a childhood friend he's been crazy about for years. She promised him that they'd be together forever too. Even if it were a literal goddess, Lucian wouldn't bat an eye!"

Everyone there started laughing. Someone then asked, "Who's that woman to have such a charm on Lucian?"

Lucian had been hanging around the red-light district, after all. People hanging around in that kind of place were never clean. Either they had done something illegal or they had slept with too many women. Men who could stay loyal were truly a rare gem there.

Lucian pulled a cigarette from the box, and a hint of softness flashed in his eyes when he thought of Joanne.

"It's none of your business. We're going to part ways after you guys get your money and never see each other again. What are you guys waiting for? Hurry up and finish the mission," Lucian urged.

Around nine men started heading toward the door. Grace then took a deep breath and hid behind the door.

She wouldn't attack the first person coming in since it was dark. Those men also couldn't see her immediately when they opened the door.

She needed to stay calm, wait for her chance, and then take down the last few men who came in and run away as far away as she could.

Her heart was beating fast as she tightened her grip on her weapon. When all the men rushed in, they immediately ran to the far end of the room.

Grace smashed the weapon hard on the last person's head. She didn't even stop to check that person's reaction before hitting another two people. Only then did she feel safe enough to run out of the room.
