"Then I can make it exciting for you."

Inez slammed her elbow in his stomach. "Behave."

Killian grunted. Pulling the towel off the rack, he wrapped it around her body. "I always behave to the best of my ability, my love." he supported her and helped her out of the bathing room, where she pushed him away from her. "I can walk on my own; you know that, right?"

"I know, bubbles. I just want to take care of you," Killian soothingly coaxed her. Inez could tell that even if she were to say that the sun was going to rise from the west at that moment, Killian was going to agree with her. She gritted her teeth and allowed the man to help her down on the couch and winced softly. Even though the wounds on the surface had healed, Inez still felt a bit unnatural. Maybe because the skin was still healing.

She snatched her arm from him and said to him, "You should keep your hands to yourself. No touching, remember?"

Killian arched both of his brows before pulling his hand to his side. "Right, no touching," he muttered.

When Inez saw that he looked upset, she immediately said to him, "It’s not that I don’t want to—" she stopped right away, feeling her face growing hotter by the minute. What in the world was she even trying to say? That she liked it when he touched her and wanted him to do that? No matter how she tried to word that sentence, it sounded like a lecherous invitation. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

So, she immediately clamped her mouth shut.

The awkwardness in the room started to rise; she turned to look at Killian and changed the topic. "Do you think there were other criminals who were taken to the council’s prison without doing anything or committing any crimes?" This was something that she had been wondering about since she was trapped inside the cell. What if there were people like her trapped? Helpless and with no one to rescue them?

Killian turned to look at her. His eyes widened as if he couldn’t believe what she was saying. His eyes were now filled with bewilderment instead of the warm-hearted concern as earlier. He was looking at her as if she were a fool who wanted to feed the dog even after getting bitten.

"It will be better if you start thinking about yourself rather than worrying about others. After all, I am sure that it was this thought that led you into trouble."

Inez gritted her teeth and turned to look at the man with a scowl on her face. "You are telling me not to help anyone and let people die unjustly?"
