Dr. Lee snorted. "What a sharp tongue for a young girl! Of course medical skill isn't directly proportional to age, but at your age, you should still be in school, right? What could you possibly know? And you're here to treat a patient? Are you even capable of it?!"
Anastasia smiled faintly. "How will we know if I'm capable or not without even trying? You don't even know my name and know nothing about me, yet you've already concluded I'm incapable simply because of my age. Don't you think judging someone so superficially is a bit arrogant?"
Dr. Lee was momentarily speechless.
Sensing the tension, Nelson quickly stepped in to mediate. "Since everyone is here, why don't we begin the consultation?"
Dr. Lee, having experienced Anastasia's sharp wit and knowing he couldn't win a verbal argument, readily agreed. "Fine. What's the use of all this talk? We'll see who has real skills soon enough!"
Nelson looked at Anastasia.
Anastasia said calmly, "I have no objections."
With that, Nelson led them into the matriarch's room.
Anastasia walked at the back. Nelson's attitude toward her was less respectful than toward the other doctors, clearly showing he had little faith in her.
Anastasia paid it no mind. As soon as she entered the room, her focus was on the patient.
Mrs. West Sr. appeared to be a very kind woman, though her spirits were low at the moment. She greeted the doctors with a smile. "Thank you all for coming today."
Her smile was weary and aged.
She was lying in bed; the issue was with her legs.
According to Nelson, a few days ago, his mother's legs had suddenly and without warning lost all feeling. She was now completely unable to walk.
