Chapter 245

Lydia looked conflicted, like she wasn’t sure how to bring up what she wanted to say next. Jeremy spoke up, “Ms. Bennett, if you have a question, feel free to ask.”

With his permission, Lydia let out a sigh of relief before asking, “Are you and Emily planning to date?” Jeremy didn’t expect

her to ask that and looked a little confused.

Lydia blinked her eyes and explained with a look of pure innocence, “Emily once said that when a guy and a girl have a meal together, that’s where all the ambiguous stuff starts. That’s how it was with her and Xavier before.”

Emma looked at her in surprise, her eyes flashing with a hint of anger, but it wasn’t aimed at Lydia.

Seriously? Just having a meal together means they’re being ambiguous? How could Emily have such a dirty and low-class idea?’ Emma fumed inwardly.

Jeremy looked at Lydia for a moment, then followed her lead and asked, “Xavier?”

Lydia nodded. “Yeah, the Jenkins family that just partnered with the Bennett family on a new project. Back then, Xavier would drive over every day to pick Emily up, and after dark, he’d bring her home, all just to try and win her over.”

She talked about Xavier picking Emily up and dropping her off in such a vague and ambiguous way, making people imagine all sorts of things, yet no one could tell she was doing it on purpose.

“Xavier even sent Emily a huge bouquet of roses, and she said she loved them. Back then, Emily was having a falling out with us and had no way to support herself, so she was relying on Xavier to help her out,” Lydia continued.

They almost became a couple, but it was a shame that Mrs. Jenkins didn’t seem to like Emily,” Lydia added. She pouted, looking like she was standing up for Emily and feeling indignant on her behalf.

She didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with bringing that up in front of Jeremy. “Even though they didn’t end up together, I believe that what they had was something no one else could ever replace.
