SEX WITH THE VIRGIN MAID novel Chapter 112

"How long do you think it'll take before we arrive home?" Christina asked and Max glanced over at his watch before facing the road again.

"I think that it'll take a while but I'll make sure you arrive safely so you don't have to worry." He answered and she fell back to her chair. Since they left the orphanage, neither of them have found the courage to start up a conversation.

Max didn't know what to say or how to even say it. He wanted to thank her for accompanying him even though she didn't have to but he just couldn't.

Which is weird because he always knew what to say to women and how to say it. He's never the type to think so much about how to articulate his words before he says them.

But with her, he finds himself trying to tame his words before he utters them because he didn't want to cross a boundary where she would get upset with him.

Glancing over to the passenger seat beside him, he watched her briefly.

Her eyes were looking outside the window and the evening non-luminous glow of the already risen moon reflected on her face. She was radiant under its glow before it disappeared into the dark clouds.

Max could stare at that face forever. He heard her sigh and her lips puckered as a result.

She looked really pretty doing that with her mouth. Is it weird that he was thinking about that?

Gosh, he promised Bryce that he would stay away but it looks like he's slowly begining to involve himself more than he wanted to.

"So, I wanted to thank you." He started, gaining her attention. "For joining me today. You made the whole journey easier."

"I don't think I did anything." She said, adjusting in her seat. "You were the one who took care of anything."

"You still deserve credit for that. Because you came with me, I felt at ease so thank you." He commented and she smiled at him.

He felt at ease? What does he mean by he felt at ease? She didn't want to read too much meaning into it so she just let it be even though her mind wouldn't stop bugging her about it.

Halfway through the ride, the car came to an abrupt stop. Max tried to restart it but it wouldn't come on.

"Wait here." He said and stepped out to take a closer look while Christina waited. She was worried that something might be wrong and she might end up not getting home sooner.

But when she heard him open up the bonnet after a while, something inside her told her that this was serious.

Pushing the car door open, she stepped down. "Is everything okay?" She asked as she approached him.

"I told you to wait for me inside?" He cautioned but she only shrugged. He should've known that she wouldn't listen to him. She was damn too stubborn for her own good.

"You don't expect me to wait alone inside when you're out here alone now did you?" She asked but he only shook his head and rolled up his sleeves to take a closer look at the situation.

"Careful, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that you're worried about me." He teased but she didn't take any offense in what he said.

If anything, she was glad that he was making jokes again. She just wanted whatever was wrong to be over with so that she can go home because she didn't like where any of this is going at all.

"God! Hera is going to kill me if she finds out about this." She muttered to herself in a low voice.

"It's just as I thought." He blurted out after a while before shutting down the bonnet. "It's an electrical malfunction and I can't do anything about it until tomorrow. It's late."

They were both drenched in the rain and Christina rubbed her shoulders together to create some warmth as she waited for Max to talk to the front desk receptionist.

She was a shivering mess and if she doesn't get shelter soon, she might come down with a bad cold.

Never in her life did she imagine that she would one day walk into an hotel willingly with a man. She really hopes that she doesn't give people the wrong idea about them.

"We'd like to book two rooms for the night please." He stated while Christina tried not to make eye contact with anybody.

It was already bad enough that she was here with him of all people and she didn't want anyone recognizing her or worse.

"I'm sorry Sir but right now, we only have one room available so we can't give it to either one of you except you both will be open and willing to share—"

"What?" Christina shrieked when she heard that. "We can't do that. We can't possibly share a room together. Isn't there any other option?"

"I'm sorry but there isn't. Due to the bad weather, all our rooms are fully booked at the moment." She explained, her voice quivering from his intense gaze.

"We can give you both a discount if you're open to come to an agreement and share the space together or you can forfeit and find another option. So, what do you say?" She added calmly.

Christina glanced over at Max who looked like he was equally as helpless in the situation as she was.

On one hand is her safety and on the other hand, her safety was tied to him. Would she be considered selfi

sh if she disagrees? God, what kind of test is this and why must it happen today of all days?
