"Here is your keycard." The receptionist handed Max a plastic card and he reached out to take it. "I hope you have a wonderful stay here and if you need anything, don't hesitate to call."
"Sure." Max answered and ducked his head towards Christina who was trembling uncontrollably, her head facing the ground.
He needed to get her inside so that she could be warm but he also knew that he shouldn't force her or she would be weary of him.
It's already bad for her that she's spending the night with him and he knows that she's going through multiple mental breakdown at the moment for her decision and he wouldn't want to add to it.
"Let's go." He said in a calm voice and she slowly raised her face to meet his.
Christina didn't even know why she agreed to this in the first place. Sharing a room with a man might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but if felt that way to her.
This is something that she had never done before.
Even back at the convent, she always shared her space with the other girls and children but she didn't have that much of a choice this time around.
They were stranded and needed a place to stay so she couldn't help but cave. She only hoped that her decision turns out to be good and doesn't come back to bite her in the end.
What's worse is the fact that Hera might be worried about her but that's the least of her worries.
She could easily call her or send a message but what does she tell her? That she didn't go home and was forced to spend a night in the same room with a man?
What would Hera even think of her? She might've accepted Max as a part of their family but would she be cool knowing that her sister was with him?
And what's worse is that she couldn't lie either. She has never had a reason to lie to Hera before and she doesn't want to start now either. Everything is just so messed up.
Trailing slowly behind him, they finally arrived at their room and max swiped the door open, gesturing at her to go inside.
He hesitated at first but reluctantly nodded before stepping inside.
The room was beautiful and spacious but still, it was just a room with one bed and that's it.
"How about you change out of your clothes so that you don't get sick?" Max suggested, pushing the strands of his wet hair that fell to his face, backwards.
Christina nodded, not knowing how or what to answer to that.
"I'll get you some supplies for the night so that you can leave out your clothes for laundry to dry by morning."
"Okay." She answered in a soft voice and made her way into he bathroom.
She made a mental note to call Hera when she was done cleaning up. Hopefully, her sister understands and doesn't get angry at her.
Inside the bathroom, she stripped out of her clothes to use the shower. A while later, a knock came to the door and she flinched.
Reaching for the towel, she wrapped it around her body before opening the door slightly.
"Here, you can wear this when you're done." Max said and handed her a bathrobe which she took gratefully.
She never expected him to take such good care of her but then again, he did say that he would always take care of her no matter what.
As long as she was a part of Bryce's family, he'll always consider her as one.
"Thank you, Max." She muttered and closed the door shut, her heart skipped a beat as she felt her bile rise up to her throat.
This is going to be a very long night.
Christina finished using the bathroom and wore her bathrobe before stepping outside. If only she could then she would've just spent the night in the bathroom instead but she couldn't do that.
She didn't want Max to think that she was scared of him even though deep down, she was. This issue has brought a whole argument between them last time and she doesn't want to relive it.
Besides, he hasn't done anything to make her feel uncomfortable, yet.
"Are you finished?" He asked and she nodded in response. Her hands clutching onto the robe tightly.
She wasn't wearing anything underneath because her clothes were all wet, down to her underwear.
"Alright then, I ordered room service so when they arrive, you can order whatever you want for dinner okay?" He told her and she nodded again, afraid to meet his eyes.
"I don't want you to be scared of me Cupcake." He started, earning a look from her.
