She knew from the moment her son first laid eyes on Claudia, he couldn’t look away from her. But why would he have the guts to flirt with Sterling’s girl right under his nose?
No, that’s not even the real issue!
She glared at Claudia again. “Are you just going to let Logan drown out there? Get him out!”
Claudia smiled, blinking innocently. “Of course I want him to get out. But it looks like he’s out of strength. Aunt Hailey, maybe you should find a way to save him?”
Struggling in the pond, Logan was already worn out from being chased by Daron. After being soaked and getting hit over and over, he actually started to lose consciousness.
Hailey panicked. “Somebody help Logan, now!”
She turned on the other young people with fresh rage. “Are you all dead? Can’t you see your cousin’s in danger? Aren’t you going to help?”
They all glanced at each other, hesitating, unsure if they should step forward.
But before anyone could move, Claudia acted first.
Hailey, still caught by the wrist, sensed what Claudia was about to do. She stared in disbelief, but before she could say a word, Claudia shoved her into the water.
With a splash, both Hailey and Logan were now struggling in the pond.
Everyone stared at Claudia in shock. The servants, running up in response to the commotion, froze in their tracks, not daring to say a word.
Even the girl with straight bangs now saw Claudia in a completely new light.
Holy crap! That’s real guts!
Everyone knew Hailey was Donovan’s beloved youngest daughter.
How could Claudia have the nerve? She hadn’t hesitated for a second before shoving Hailey right into the pond.
Hailey herself was in utter disbelief, mouth wide open as she gulped in water.
Claudia’s grin was wicked and bold as she said, “I thought about it. Motherly love is the best rescue medicine in the world. No one can save Logan like you can, Aunt Hailey.

“You must be heartbroken watching Logan struggle, dying to save him from the pond, right? I’m just giving you a hand, Aunt Hailey. Doesn’t that make you happy?”
Hailey couldn’t speak, but she fought her way over and managed to support the nearly unconscious Logan.
But a grown man weighed too much, and she started to sink as well.
Both of them flailed desperately.
Some of the worried servants edged forward, thinking about jumping in, but Claudia barked at them.
“No one moves!”
They froze on the spot, not even daring to breathe.
In that instant, everyone saw a shadow of Sterling in Claudia.
Aside from the splashing and gasping in the pond, the whole place went dead silent.
The younger kids shrank together, wishing they’d never come out and never gotten mixed up with troublemakers like Logan and Claudia.
What if someone actually died today?
A death at a funeral–what a hell of a joke.
But no one dared defy Claudia.
Everyone knew how much Sterling spoiled her. Deep down, they all felt that if she killed someone, Sterling would still back her up.
Hailey was truly terrified now.
Claudia was completely unpredictable, playing by her own rules.
How dare she act so ruthless?
Hailey wanted nothing more than to slap Claudia over and over to vent her humiliation.
But what she feared even more was that Claudia might actually leave them to drown.
At last, Hailey managed to gasp for breath and shouted, “Enough! Let us out! If something happens, who’ll take the responsibility? Do you really think you can bear that responsibility?”
Logan’s breathing was getting weaker, and Hailey felt her whole body trembling.
