Zane could feel everyone staring at him–some curious, some feeling sorry for him. He tried really hard not to look at Claudia.

Her attitude was clear. There was no way he could shamelessly ask for a ride anymore.

She was done with him.

Just like he had once sided with Lydia, now Claudia was on the opposite side, and there was no way to fix it.

Holding his broken phone, Zane walked away into the night, feeling completely empty inside.

After all the chaos that night, Claudia flopped onto the couch as soon as she got home.

Sterling came over, smiled, and leaned down to kiss her on the cheek. “Are you tired?”

Claudia rolled over and stretched out her arms, wanting him to lift her up. “I need another shower first.”

After dealing with a few annoying people, she didn’t want to go to bed without washing off first.

Instead of just pulling her up, Sterling scooped her up easily and held her in a princess carry.

“I’ll help you.”

Twenty minutes later…

“Sterling!” Claudia shouted from the bathroom, sounding panicked with a hint of something else in it.

Soaking in the tub, her cheeks bright red, she clenched her teeth. “You said you were just going to help! I don’t want to shower anymore.”

Water splashed everywhere as she realized his hands were under the surface. She bit her lip hard.

“Baby…” Sterling whined, sounding sad after she hit him. “You promised you’d make it me when we got home.”

Claudia had hoped to avoid him tonight, but she ended up giving in. Blushing, she pushed him lightly. “Not here.”

Sterling laughed softly. “Just a minute, babe.”

Late at night, their room was a total mess. Sterling kissed the forehead of the woman in his arms, who had fallen asleep from being so tired.

He checked the time and turned off both their phones.

Ha! Emma wanted to trick Claudia into going to her college’s men’s basketball game in the morning?

He might not be able to beat Whitney, but there was no way he’d lose to a little girl.

She hadn’t actually planned on going anyway. The other guys weren’t as good–looking as Sterling, didn’t have his strong body, and even their muscles didn’t measure up.

She already had a jealous guy at home–there was no way she’d let another guy make him upset.
