Chapter 320 If I Had a Choice
Chapter 320 If I Had a Choice
The truth of the world revealed another lie right in front of Zane.
In the quiet room, a soft tapping on the table broke the silence.

Then a calm, confident voice spoke, “Mr. Lancaster, if you want to teach your kid a lesson, do it at home. Who are you trying to show off for here?”
Clarence tensed up and looked at Sterling, who was sitting on the bench next to Claudia. Sterling’s sleeves were rolled up, one hand resting on his knee, and the other casually draped over the back of Claudia’s chair. He looked completely relaxed.
Sterling wasn’t dressed in his usual neat, commanding style. His shirt was casually unbuttoned, showing a few red marks on his chest. His features were handsome, his hair messy, his vibe rugged and carefree, but his eyes were still sharp, mocking and teasing him at the same time.
Clarence pressed his lips together and remained silent. He glanced at Claudia.
She was calm, just watching everything happen, showing no happiness or anger.
Clarence sighed quietly. Things had really changed.
Finally, Clarence took Zane out of the police station because Lottie was feeling better and wanted to see him.
Both families signed the papers, leaving the lawyers to handle the rest.
Outside the station, Claudia offered to drive Emma home, but Emma shook her head quickly.
No way. Who was she to make Sterling play the driver?
She laughed and grabbed her friends. “No need! I’ll go with them. We’re all staying at my place tonight, and we’ll split up tomorrow morning.”
With so many people, safety wasn’t an issue. Sterling even arranged two extra drivers to make sure everyone got home safely.
But unlike the warm, victorious mood over at the other place, the Lancaster brothers were icy with each other.
Zane stared at Claudia under the streetlight, her laughter echoing. Then he turned to Clarence and asked, “Were you serious earlier? Are you really giving up on me?”

Sure, Clarence had thought about using Claudia’s kind heart to make things easier, but when he said he didn’t want to deal with Zane anymore, he truly meant it.
Zane, being the one closest to Clarence, felt the hurt the most.
If Lottie hadn’t called just now, Clarence probably would have left him alone at the station.
“Why?” Zane’s voice trembled.
In only a few days, his parents weren’t the perfect people he had believed in, Lydia wasn’t the sister he trusted, and Clarence had shown a cold, heartless side.
The happy, harmonious family he had trusted for 21 years was falling apart.
“Aren’t you my brother?” he asked, his words twisted with pain and confusion.
“Brother?” Clarence’s voice was sharp and mocking. “If I had a choice, I wouldn’t even want a little brother.”
It was like a blow to Zane’s head. He froze in place, stunned.
Clarence didn’t say anything more. He looked coldly at the group laughing far away, then met Claudia’s thoughtful gaze.
The siblings stared at each other from across the street, Clarence’s eyes full of mixed feelings.
He was the first to look away from her calm, knowing gaze. He closed his eyes, got into the car, and looked at Zane still standing there like a fool. “You coming in, or are you walking home?”
Zane pressed his lips together and stared at Clarence in the car window–familiar, yet somehow strange. He said nothing.
Clarence didn’t try to comfort him. They would have to wait until tomorrow to see Lottie anyway, so he just drove off with a blank expression.
Emma noticed Zane getting left behind and poked her friend, surprised. “Wow, talk about fake brotherly love.”
Honestly, the relationships in that family seemed even colder than hers with her distant
cousins.
