Chapter 91 Biological and Adopted Daughters
Clinging to both sides at once–the Lancasters are scheming, huh?

While everyone quietly cursed Wilson as a sly old fox, he himself felt bitter. Staring at Claudia chatting and laughing with Sterling, his face was ashen.
From the moment she learned to resist, Claudia had never been the type to be pushed around. This time, her mother had used her grandmother’s bracelet to force her home for the engagement, and no one knew how much anger she had been holding inside.
And Sterling was clearly here to back her up.
One was stubborn, the other reckless. Who knew how much chaos they might cause together?
Wilson thought despairingly that it would have been better if Sterling had come for Lydia instead. At least Lydia was obedient, considerate, and had a sense of the bigger picture. No matter how much she suffered, she would never vent it on the family. Maybe she could have persuaded Sterling.
Claudia would never let a grudge go. Blood ties meant nothing to her.
Wilson and Clarence exchanged worried glances. They both understood the fear in each other’s eyes. How to get rid of this jinx?
Of course, what they feared most soon happened.
Once Claudia had nearly finished eating and the fireworks were fading, Sterling finally turned his gaze toward Wilson and Clarence, as if he had only just noticed them.
“I heard you sent out invites for your biological daughter’s birthday. So how did it suddenly turn into your adopted daughter’s engagement party, followed by calling the whole thing off?”
His eyes swept the venue. “A birthday should be celebrated by the whole family, right? Yet Claudia’s mother and brother are missing. Mr. Lancaster, your family is at odds, huh?”
Wilson’s face turned red in embarrassment.
He was certain now that Sterling was here to humiliate them.
For years, we had acknowledged Lydia as our eldest daughter. So why was he suddenly talking about “biological” and “adopted” daughters?
What shook Wilson most was that Sterling had deliberately mentioned the absent mother and
son.

That scene by the second–floor window had shocked him deeply. He still had no idea what had really happened, only that he wanted everyone to forget it as soon as possible.
But now that Sterling brought it up, the crowd’s memories were reignited.
Once they shook off the shock of seeing Claudia, who was notorious for her terrible temper and bad reputation, by Sterling’s side, everyone’s interest in what had just happened flared up again.
“If I wasn’t seeing things, wasn’t that Quade pressing Zane against the window for a kiss? Isn’t Quade supposed to be going abroad? And I heard the two families haven’t been on good terms lately. The Lancasters didn’t even invite him tonight.”
“I’ve heard rumors about Quade’s behavior. The Zimmers are rushing him overseas for that very reason. He and Zane, hehe … ”
“No way. And wasn’t Lydia there too? Her clothes weren’t even on properly.”
“Siblings having fun with Quade? Tsk, that’s wild.”
“Mr. Fenton just got engaged, and he’s already being cheated on.”
“Then why did Lydia throw something at him just now?”
“Who knows? Maybe she was framed, or maybe it’s some strange kink? Come on, the two siblings couldn’t handle one Quade in their house?”
“What a mess!”
The wild guesses flew around, leaving Wilson and Clarence humiliated. Even Jasper frowned deeply.
Lydia wasn’t like what they were saying. Quade, that reckless bastard, was capable of anything. Lydia must have been dragged into it.
Wilson forced down his anger. “Mr. Romero, you must be joking. My wife and the others are absent because of urgent matters, that’s all. The Lancasters are very close to each other.”
Then he looked at Claudia, hoping she would back him up.
Sterling’s calm eyes also turned to her, as if asking silently, “Is that true?”
Claudia swallowed her last bite of cake, set her spoon down slowly, and blinked innocently. “I have no idea.”
Wilson quickly cut in, “Of course it’s true. Claudia’s mother cares for her very much. She would never skip her birthday on purpose. She just had to leave suddenly, that’s all.”
