Chapter 5 

The whole vibe snapped the second that door slammed. 

Jeff and Frank stiffened, stepping in front of Lulu. 

No one caught the panic flash across her face. 

A blur of memories crashed through me-too fast, too messy. Before I could make sense of anything, a woman stepped in behind the cops. Black outfit. White flower on her chest. 

Mia Carter. 

My best friend. 

Eyes red, face pale, like she hadn’t slept in days. 

I bolted toward her, hand shaking as I reached out- 

Right through her. 

She raised one arm, pointing straight at Lulu. 

Voice rough but firm. 

“Officers, that’s Lulu Keller. She’s the one who killed Sienna.” 

Silence. 

Everything froze for a second-then chaos exploded. 

“Wait, what? Sienna’s DEAD?” 

“Lulu KILLED her?” 

“She’s lost it. What is she even saying?” 

“But… I haven’t seen Sienna in forever. And didn’t that murder video blow up online? The girl looked JUST like her.” 

Someone pulled out their phone and hit play. 

Same footage the staff showed Jeff and Frank-but the internet version was blurred. You couldn’t see the victim’s face. 

Whispers turned into a storm. 

Jeff and Frank’s faces dropped. 

Frank yanked Lulu behind him, eyes cold. “Who said Sienna’s dead? Say that again, and you’ll regret it.” 

Dead silence. 

Frank had always been the scary one. No one dared talk back. 

He scanned the room, daring anyone to speak, then turned to the cops.
