Chapter 109
Aleee managed to get out of his grasp and stand beside the bed.
“You are clearly going to fixate on this. Come back to bed. I’ll sleep in my office. All of the guest rooms are taken up tonight
I’ll take the couch.”
everyone here.
“Great!” she could tell from his expression he was expecting her to argue with him and when he hesitated she shrugged, “I can go sleep in your office, but I’m pissed off with you right now and your computer set up is in there. Not sure how much you trust a woman you feel you could kill so,” she pursed her lips at him.
He gave an angry hiss and stomped to the closet to grab pajama bottoms and came out of the room hopping into a pair of bottoms. “This is ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous would be sharing a bed with someone who says he could kill me but refuses to give me parameters surrounding what this so–called betrayal entails. As I said, I have a lot to live for, Don Lozano and I’m not risking it.”
“All I said was don’t cheat.”
“And I said cheating isn’t a black and white subject. Different people hold different views and if you can’t give me a clear definition of what I need to avoid in order to keep my head attached to my neck instead of being severed by one of your fucking scythes, then I don’t feel safe.”
Her words made him pause, “I’m sorry, did you just say you don’t feel safe with me?
“Did you think your words would make me feel any other way but unsafe? He slammed out of the room, and she held up her middle finger to the closed door. “Asshole.”
She flung herself back into the bed and swallowed the rage she was feeling. What kind of idiot tells a woman he’d kill her if she cheated on him? Granted, she expected such a thing from a Don who’d once got an STD, from a cheating lover but still, he was crazy if he thought she’d want to sleep next to him without clear definitions.
Four hours later, she still hadn’t slept a wink and, between being hung over and her emotions and dreading having to face him when it was time to get out of bed, 22ww was feeling sick to her stomach. It was now after six and she could already hear the low buzz of movement in the home.
After deciding there was no reason to try to keep sleeping, she showered and made her way to the kitchen. As expected, she found Brunella at the stove putting breakfast on.
“Morning”
“Good morning,” Brunella said with a gentle smile, “you don’t look any better than the man who just left here.”
“Torq is gone already?”
“Walking the dog though I don’t think he went to the roof. He’s got one on him this morning. I think he took the dog for a walk hoping to get mugged so he could beat the shit out of someone.”
Brunella’s blunt comment made her frown and Alcee mumbled under her breath. “Idut.”
“Dare I ask what it was which has the pair of you looking like neither of you slept? When Alcee hesitated Brunella shrugged, “you don’t need to tell me, Alcee. I’m simply offering an ear.”
“Your son is an idiot.”
“You did say this a moment ago.”
“I mentioned when he got in last night it was probably hard to kill Corrado, and he said it wasn’t. I don’t even know how we got on the topic but then he mentioned it would far be harder to kill Cicciu, and he’d need a damn good reason to do it.”
“What kind of reason would he need to kill Cicciu?” Brunella asked with a curious expression.
“Killing you or Lorita.”

Brunella gave a nod of appreciation. “Sounds about right.”
“It was weird he could come up with a reason so I asked him if he could kill Antero and he said he couldn’t think of a reason to do it then I asked about me and he said he could do it easily if 1 cheated on him. I asked him to define cheating, and he wouldn’t. Basically, I get a bullet in my head for whatever Torq deems as cheating. It could be exchanged glances with a man across a room or a physical affair. It’s not quite clear to
Brunella turned her head back to the batter she was mixing and shook her head, “he’s an idiot.”
