She's back (Morgan and Dante) novel Chapter 2

Two:

MORGAN'S POV:

My highschool friend that had gone missing when we were about to get into college, had reappeared just like she had vanished, had just walked into my house with my husband and was standing right in front of me.

"Nova..." I spoke not knowing what to say to my long time friend.

"Morgan..." She responded, smiling brightly. "Hi."

"Hello." I said to her, the air tensed and awkward.

"I found her stuck and stranded while I was coming home and since it was Nova, I had to bring her back home." Dante said to me avoiding my gaze.

Oh. That was why he came back with her. How foolish of Me to think otherwise.

"Anna!" He called to one of the maids in the living room. "Give her a room, he said pointing to Nova. " Make sure everything that she needs, gets to her." He said to the maid.

"Yes Sir." She said bowing. Then she led Nova out to go get her a room while I watched them until they disappeared from sight. Then I turned my attention to Dante.

"You weren't picking my calls neither were you returning them." I said to him glad that he was alright. "You had me worried." I further said to him. "You always give me a heads up whenever there are changes in your work schedule. You didn't let me in on today's change of plans." Hurt that he did not give me a heads up about his late return from work.

He took off his tie but spoke nothing to me. Perhaps he was tired and I was just nagging him.

All my plans for the feast had been ruined thanks to his work. Do I break the news to him? Or should I wait till he had eaten and rested from the stress of work?

I walked towards him to assist him in taking off his blazer but he moved away from me indicating that I should not lay my hands on him.

"What's wrong?" I asked him surprised at his reaction. He maintained his snubbing factor taking his blazer off all by himself. That had never happened.

"Honey..." I called walking towards him.

"Don't touch me..." He said to me holding his hands up.

Don't touch him? I began to sense that something was weird. On every other day, his return from work always came with a kiss. He would kiss me and tell me how much he missed me during work hours and how he was waiting endlessly to come back home. Then I would help him take his clothes off and we would take a bath together. Where was this side of him coming from.

"Honey..." I called. "Did something happen?" He still have me no reply.

He unbuttoned his shirt walking towards his bag that he kept on the couch and brought out some papers.

"Here." He said handing me the papers.

I looked at him, confusion evident in my face.

"Take it." He said to me talking my hands and putting the papers in them. Then he took out a pen from his pocket and placed it on top of the papers in my hands. "Sign it." He ordered.

My thoughts were still floating not knowing where to land at the moment. What was he telling me it sign all of a sudden? Was it something related to work? I thought looking at the papers in my hands.

Divorce papers!

I dropped both the papers and the pen on it to the floor. Divorce papers all of a sudden?

"You want to divorce me?" I whispered looking up at him, unable to comprehend the reason behind this.

"What does it look like?" He asked taking his shirt off.
