She's back (Morgan and Dante) novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20 - 20

Morgan's pov:

"Is everything okay?"

I blinked, distracting myself from my thoughts. For a moment I had forgotten I was with someone. I raised my head and looked at Winston. He has a worried look on his face.

"I'm okay," I said and smiled. "I had to come in person, and I apologize for taking time out of your busy day."

"It's a Sunday," Winston said with a kind smile. "And I'm always happy to help out a patient. It's my duty."

"Right," I laughed. "It's a Sunday."

"So," Winston said, his head tilted to the side. "What's the problem? Do you feel strange?"

"I have a headache ---" From all the thinking I've been doing, my heart hurts too but I can't tell him that. "---and I don't think I can accept the leave of absence."

"You need to rest, Morgan. Give your body time to recover."

"I know that, and maybe one day I'll go on a month long vacation but...it's not now. "

I have an older sister. I don't know how things are going to change right now , and I can't take a break now. Everything will go to hell if I try it.

"Did anything happen? You don't seem like yourself."

I stared at him, this man who's been nothing but kind to me. I sighed and rubbed my temples. "Not exactly, but nothing I can't handle."

"I understand that yours this amazing CEO, but at the same time you're Morgan. You shouldn't forget that. And whatever is going on that you can't tell me about, I hope you can find a solution to it."

I wish I can find a solution to it too. But I don't know what to do.

I left the house after breakfast, unable to face my father or Sabrina. It's barely been twenty four hours right? And I feel like six months have passed.

My phone vibrated with a text message. I excused myself and took it out. It was a message from an unknown number. I opened the message and glanced through it.

"Are you busy today? I need to talk to you. It's urgent." The message read.

I sighed. "Get a hint, Dante. I don't want to see you." I typed back and blocked the number. Seriously, how many more number will be use and contact me?

"Is everything okay?" Winston asked.

"I think my cortisol levels just spiked." I groaned. "I feel like my head is going to explode and I....wait, you're not a therapist are you?"

He smiled, and his eyes lit up like the sun in the sky after a heavy downpour. "I do have some knowledge in that field."

I laughed, covering my mouth shyly.

"I don't need a therapist however. Maybe something for my head, but not exactly therapy."

"I'll write you a prescription. The thing now is would you actually stick to it?"

No. I probably wouldn't. But at the risk of my stress levels rising even more, I have to do it at least.

"I'll try." I said softly. "I have to. It's for my health after all."

******

I didn't want to go back home.

At the back of my mind I wondered if I was being unreasonable. But then again, I didn't care about it. I summoned all the courage I could after my lunch with Winston and drove back home.

I had hoped that Sabrina would be gone by the time I returned home. Luck was against me, because she was the first person I saw when I opened the front door.

"I've never needed a big sister, so yes it's too late."

"I wish we had met earlier. Like actually grown up together."

I turned to leave. "Thank goodness we didn't." I said bitterly. I can't imagine what would have happened if my mother and her mother lived under the same roof.

"I'll be starting work tomorrow!" She called out. I paused and turned to look at her.

"What did you just say?"

"Father is going to train me. He said you'll join in too, and I'm really excited for it. Although I know nothing about business, I'm sure I can learn."

My heart skipped a beat. "When did he say this?"

"It's been a while."

My goodness. How Long has dad been planning this? And he never said a peep to me? For this long?

I grit my teeth. "Good luck then. I expect nothing but excellence"

"And who knows, very soon we could be running the company side by side."

I didn't want to even imagine that. I'm the face of Rosewood enterprises. And I don't need anyone by my side for it.

"Trash that idea, Sabrina. You can help out at the company, I don't care. No matter what dad says, I'm the one in control here."

"Not really. He owns the company." She said with a sweet smile.

Who the fuck does the even think she is right now?!
