Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 1003

Chapter 1003

Rick remembered something one of the shareholders—a man angling for his favor-had once confided in him.

“Rick, you can’t blame your mother too much for how she felt. You have to understand, it was Victoria’s mother who destroyed her life. She tore Shayla’s family apart, forcing her to leave her home and everyone she loved. As a result, her own daughter never had access to the best education or opportunities. Meanwhile, Victoria grew up being doted on by everyone, the darling of high society. Anyone in your mother’s position would be bitter.”

Victoria’s mother had stolen Shayla’s husband. And now, Victoria-that woman’s daughter

-wanted a piece of the legacy that rightfully belonged to Shayla’s own children.

Even a fool would have made moves to secure her own children’s future.

Maybe Victoria herself was blameless, but her very existence was a monument to Shayla’s

humiliation.

While Shayla was fighting to save the company, raising three children completely on her own, her husband-who had lost his memory-was playing house with another woman.

He’d even started a new family with her. 1

And now, that other woman’s child was supposed to be raised under Shayla’s roof, treated as one of her own, and given an equal share of her children’s affection and inheritance.

Shayla had always been a proud woman. There was no way she could ever swallow that kind

of disgrace.

To her, both Victoria’s mother and Victoria herself were the enemy.

The sudden ring of a phone shattered the silence.

It was Scott’s assistant, calling to report.

“Sir, Miss McKinzie didn’t board any flight. She drove away from the airport instead.”

Scott’s tone was cold. “She probably realized she couldn’t escape by plane, so she’s trying another way. Intercept her vehicle and bring her back.”

This time, Richard didn’t stop him.

Those defiant elder shareholders-leftovers of his late wife’s faction-had always been thorns in his side, buried deep in flesh and impossible to remove. It was time for a change.

Just as Sharon and the others exited the airport, they noticed police lines being set up around the perimeter. People were only allowed to leave-no one was permitted to re-

enter.

Wendy frowned. “Huh? What’s going on? Are they chasing a fugitive?”

Sharon recalled Rick’s call from earlier, her brows tightening slightly.

“Maybe the ‘fugitive’ they’re after… is me.”

At that moment, Thomas said, “We’re being followed.”

Sharon wasn’t surprised. A strange, almost playful smile curved her lips. “Looks like the show’s starting earlier than planned.”

Wendy quickly caught on, her disbelief obvious.

“No way. They actually think you’re trying to run?”

How could Sharon’s family think so little of her?

Sharon turned to Thomas. “Give me the car keys. Take Wendy and go first.”

She’d decided to stay and play their little game.

But Thomas didn’t hand them over. “I’ll drive. Your hand’s not at a hundred percent.”

Her hand wasn’t useless-she could manage a casual drive, but she’d lost the fine control needed for high-speed evasion.

The realization hit Sharon, and her face fell. Her hand would never be what it was. The light in her expression faded.

Thomas, however, just spun the keys around his finger with a lazy grin.

“Tell you what,” he drawled. “I’ll flip their cars for a grand each. Keep them busy for a full hour, and that’s a cool 100 grand. Do we have a deal?”

Wendy’s eyes lit up with instant, predatory glee. “You’ve got yourself a deal!”

Money was the one thing they weren’t short on. Even Wendy could bankroll that kind of

beautiful destruction.

A wicked smile spread across her face. “Alright, Thomas. Go give them a show they’ll never forget.”

Thomas’s smirk widened. “Don’t forget to start the livestream. The world deserves to see me in my element.”

Wendy let out a low chuckle. “With pleasure.”

She was going to make sure the entire world watched the mighty Kalen family get their perfect, polished image smashed into the dirt.
