Silas’s face darkened. “Go ahead and act arrogant while you still can, Sharon. Let’s see how proud you’ll be when you’re the one

coming to me for money.”

Sharon smiled faintly. “You might get your wish tonight, then. After all, dreams can make anything happen.”

With that cutting remark, she turned and left, not sparing him another glance.

After she was gone, Victoria–who had been silent until now–finally spoke.

“She seemed awfully confident just now. Do you think… she actually has a plan to raise the funds?”

Silas let out a disdainful laugh. “Who could possibly help her? Even if every one of her allies chipped in, she’d still be short nearly twenty billion. That’s not some small change you can conjure up by flapping your lips. And she’s supposed to do it in just a few days? Please.”

He scoffed again. “Even if she tried dumping stocks, it’d be too late by the time the market reacted.”

A rash liquidation like that would send the markets into chaos–no one would be foolish enough to do it.

Scott nodded in agreement. “She’s got three days. Naturally, she’ll struggle till the very end. She won’t admit defeat until she’s staring at the coffin lid. Let’s just wait and watch.”

Silas’s gaze hardened as he glared in the direction Sharon had gone.

“She loves putting on a show, doesn’t she? When she finally comes crawling to us for money, I’ll make sure she gets on her knees and begs. Let’s see how arrogant she is then!”

“Silas,” Victoria said softly, trying to calm him down, “you know what kind of person she is. Don’t push her too far. What if she decides to sell her original shares to someone else or worse, gives up on acquiring the Silverstone Group altogether?”

Silas’s tone was unapologetically smug. “If she doesn’t acquire it, all the better for us. The Kalen family will step in and take over. Acquiring a portion of the Silverstone Group’s shares has always been part of our strategy anyway.”
