No one would be foolish enough to announce something like that publicly–it would, of course, be done quietly and out of sight.

Scott suddenly spoke. “We should investigate this properly first. What if the money Sharon used didn’t come from Carter or Xavier? Their companies still have healthy cash flow. If we act rashly, they might turn the tables

on us.

“Both men are anything but ordinary–if they catch wind of what we’re doing, we’ll suffer heavy losses. And more importantly, we might end up turning Sharon into a real enemy.”

Silas shot him a sharp look. “Scott, since when did you become so cautious? If Sharon didn’t get the money from Carter, where else could she possibly have found that much cash?”

Scott frowned. “Didn’t she meet with an investor last time? Maybe she secured funding through that connection.

Silas let out a mocking laugh.

“That investor? I’ve met him. Calls himself Doug. No background, no record–he’s practically a ghost. You know what’s even funnier? He claimed he wanted to invest fifty billion in Sharon! Tell me, if a total stranger told you he was going to hand you fifty billion, would you believe him?”

Silas’s lips curled in disdain. “The man’s obviously a fraud. Even Sharon didn’t buy his story–surely you don’t, either?”

Scott replied calmly, “Maybe he’s a fraud. But that doesn’t mean someone else didn’t invest.”

Silas cut him off impatiently. “Scott, have you been burned by Sharon so many times you’ve started to think she’s invincible? Even if someone did invest, who would pour that kind of money into her? And in just three days? There are only a handful of families capable of producing that amount of capital on such short notice. You think she has that kind of influence?” 2

While they argued, Sharon and Gerard had already finished signing their names and exchanged contracts. The cameras flashed wildly, and the sound of applause rippled through the hall.

The faces of the Kalen family members darkened in unison.

Sharon hadn’t sought their help. She had raised the funds on her own and successfully acquired twenty percent of Silverstone Group’s shares.

In such a short time, she had accomplished what no one thought possible. It was only a matter of time before Kalen Group’s shareholders began to see her in a new light.

When she eventually joined the Kalen Group’s top brass, Victoria would be completely overshadowed. Sharon’s
