Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 560

Chapter 560

Sharon gave a simple response, “I don’t know him.”

Carter waited a few seconds, expecting her to say more. When she didn’t, a faint crease formed between his brows. “Then why would Kelly say you do?”

Sharon glanced at Kelly, her tone cool and detached. “Ask her. What’s the point of asking me? I have no idea what goes on in her

head.”

Her attitude was sharp, so sharp that even Carter found himself at a loss for how to respond.

Seeing the tension rise, Kelly quickly put on a soft, injured voice.

“Sharon, I know you hate me. You probably wish I’d drop dead right here. But no matter how much you hate me, Theo is

innocent. He’s your own son…”

Kelly didn’t finish. Sharon cut her off, “If you know I hate you, then shut up. Otherwise, I can’t promise what I’ll do to you.”

Kelly opened her mouth to speak, then caught the flicker in Sharon’s eyes. Her breath hitched.

Sharon… didn’t seem to be joking.

Kelly’s gaze shifted ever so slightly.

What if she pushed Sharon just enough to get slapped in front of Carter? Wouldn’t that prove Sharon’s violent nature, and possibly her guilt?

But before she could act, Sharon’s voice rang out, “Kelly, are you thinking about how to provoke me?

Hoping I’ll lose it in front of Carter, lay a hand on you, and prove to him how much I hate you? That I want you dead?”

Kelly’s eyes flickered, but she kept up the act. “Sharon, I’ve never wronged you. Why must you always assume the worst of me?”

Sharon didn’t hold back. “Kelly, if you keep pretending and fanning the flames, there’s no point in us talking any further. It’s a

waste of time.”

She turned to Carter. “Kidnapping is a crime. If you’re serious about this, you should be calling the police, not me.”

Carter’s expression was unreadable. “Kelly says you’re Theo’s mother. She doesn’t want to blow this up. And honestly, I agree. Handling this privately might be better.”

“Privately?” Sharon caught the implication in his words “So you’ve already decided it was me?”

Carter looked vaguely resigned. “If I were sure it was you, I wouldn’t have asked you here.”

Sharon studied his face. “Then why did you?”

“Theo’s safety is involved being thorough isn’t unreasonable. If it wasn’t you, all the better. But if it was, no matter what grudge exists between you and Kelly, I hope you wouldn’t gamble with your son’s life.”

Sharon frowned.

“Fine. If you’re entertaining the possibility that I did it, then tell me, how exactly do you want to handle it ‘privately’?”

Carter fell silent for a moment.

“Whether it was you or not, Kelly did get injured saving Theo. Her concert is coming up, and her condition will definitely affect her performance So… that violin-Shaluna-could she borrow it for her concert?”

Sharon’s expression didn’t change, but understanding flickered in her eyes.

Of course. Kelly had been eyeing that violin for ages.

Especially after learning it was hers, Kelly must have been dying to get her hands on it. Kelly just hadn’t had the right opportunity…until now.

Sharon responded flatly, “Evidence or not, I’m not lending that violin to either of you.”

Carter tried again, “If you’re worried it might affect your own concert, I can arrange for Kelly’s concert to happen after yours. That way, it won’t interfere with anything you’re planning.”
