Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 867

Chapter 867

Sharon’s reply was polite and restrained. “Thank you.”

After that, she turned toward Victoria, who was still lying on the hospital bed.

“Victoria, how are you feeling now?”

She could bring herself to call Richard her father and Rick her brother, but she could never call Victoria her sister. The word felt false, hollow, almost hypocritical.

Victoria didn’t seem to mind. She smiled faintly. “I’m fine. With some rest, it shouldn’t affect the competition.”

Sharon nodded. “That’s good.”

Then she shifted her gaze to Richard. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going.”

Richard inclined his head. “Alright. You’ve had a long day. Go get some rest.”

After Sharon left, Rick finally spoke.

“Victoria, be honest with me and Dad. When you said you blocked the acid for Johanna, were you actually covering for Sharon?”

Victoria’s expression carried a trace of helplessness. “No. What I said was the truth.”

His falcon-sharp gaze lingered on her face. Only when he saw no sign of evasion did he finally look away. 2

Outside the ward.

The moment Johanna saw Sharon enter Victoria’s ward with the Kalen family, she seized the opportunity to approach Thomas.

“Thomas, are you free tomorrow? We could go to the club for some shooting practice.”

Her tone was noticeably softer than before. She had always shown interest in him, but traces of her usual hauteur inevitably slipped through.

This time, she tried to be gentle.

Thomas glanced at her, his voice cool and clipped. “No time.”

Johanna froze, eyes widening in disbelief. He was actually treating her coldly.

That had never happened before.

A flicker of panic crossed her gaze.

Speculation stirred in her mind, but it wasn’t her place to pry.

Seeing that Thomas had no intention of breaking the silence, Sharon finally spoke up.

“Thomas, are you coming back with me, or… do you want to stay and talk with Johanna?”

At that, he turned his head toward her.

Something in his look made Sharon feel unsettled, almost strange.

What on earth was wrong with him today?

He said, “I’ll go back with you, Sharon.”

Sharon still had things to deal with, so she didn’t linger. After a brief nod to Johanna, she left the hospital.

Once they were in the car, Thomas waited until she had fastened her seatbelt before starting the engine.

Sharon hesitated for a long moment, then finally asked, “Thomas… are you in a bad mood today?”
