Chapter 877
Carter fixed his gaze on Sharon. “Sharon, you need to be prepared for what’s coming.”
Sharon remained calm. “I understand. Thank you for the warning.”
“You’re Theo’s mother,” Carter continued. “I already owe you more than I can repay. This is the least I should do. Don’t stand on ceremony with me. If there’s anything else you need, just ask.”
Sharon hesitated, then asked, “Has Theo been going to the Kalen family lately?”
“Richard sent people to fetch him several times, but I refused every time.”
time.” Carter’s gaze lingered on her. “For now, I won’t let Theo hang out with the Kalen family. Don’t worry, I’ll keep him safe. I won’t allow the Kalens to use him as leverage against you.”
Sharon’s expression grew complicated as she looked at him. Her greatest fear wasn’t for herself, but that the Kalen family might target Theo.
Carter clearly sensed her concern. He wanted to ease her mind, to take that burden from her
shoulders.
After a moment of thought, Sharon added, “Then for now… don’t take Theo to the Biggs family’s old estate either.”
Carter agreed without hesitation. “Alright.”
Sharon blinked in surprise. “You’re not going to ask why?”
His eyes darkened. “I already know.”
She still wasn’t entirely reassured. “Do you really?”
A faint sigh left Carter’s lips. “My mom’s way of teaching Theo… It’s a problem. From now on, I’ll try to keep their contact to a minimum.”
In truth, Madeline’s so-called “education” had done the boy more harm than good. It wasn’t until after the divorce that Carter discovered how often his mother had belittled Sharon in front of Theo, instilling resentment against his own mother. 1
Hearing this, Sharon’s features softened considerably.
Watching her friend leave, Wendy muttered under her breath, “Carter really does have a way about him. Sharon can’t stand him, yet he still managed to get her to pick up Theo with him. No wonder she once fell for him.”
The international competition this time wasn’t in Amstern City, but in another major metropolis-Listoria City.
Though the Biggs Group dominated the business scene in Zachemaine, it had never grown so tyrannical as to crush all other families and companies. True longevity came through collaboration and mutual benefit.
And Listoria City happened to be Julliard’s territory.
The moment Sharon and Wendy stepped off the plane, they spotted a tall, elegant figure waiting for them.
Wendy waved cheerfully. “Julliard!”
Julliard strode toward them with steady confidence, reaching out to take Sharon’s suitcase. His assistant quickly collected Wendy’s luggage as well.
A warm smile touched his lips. “Sharon, welcome to Listoria City.”
