Theobald looked down at the principal, his gaze cold. “That’s not the only crime you’ve committed. You’ve also been busy with embezzlement, bribery, and abuse of power.”

The principal’s face turned ashen. “You…”

Anna walked in, dressed in a sharp business suit, followed by several police officers and a team of lawyers carrying briefcases.

She gently patted Marguerite’s shoulder. “Maggie, you and Aaron should head back. I’ll take it from here.”

Marguerite was struck by how cool and capable Anna was. She snapped to attention and gave a mock salute. “Sure!”

A rare smile flickered across Anna’s composed face, making her look exceptionally beautiful. The lawyers beside her were stunned. The Anna they dealt with was all business, her presence so intense it was almost suffocating.

Leaving the professionals to their work, Marguerite took Aaron back to Jenny’s room. Since they were already at KANYO Hospital, she wanted to spend some time with her.

Joshua hadn’t slept all night, the pain in his tongue a constant torment. When he realized Marguerite hadn’t come to the hospital that morning, his frustration grew.

Hannah, with her arm in a sling, was doing her best to take care of him. When she asked what had happened, Joshua had typed on his phone that he’d gotten into an argument with his director while trying to get time off to be with her and had accidentally bitten his tongue. Hannah was deeply moved.

Later, when Joshua stepped out for some fresh air, he was thrilled to see Marguerite back in the other suite. His tongue was feeling a bit better today, though still sore. He cursed Aaron under his breath.

He’d had a lot of time to think last night. Marguerite was even more stubborn and vengeful than he remembered. Getting her to back down was nearly impossible. But then again, she had been the most dazzling girl at Pinecrest High, the top student of their year. In Northpine’s elite circles, academic achievement was highly respected. His own mother, who had initially disapproved of his feelings for Marguerite, had changed her tune the moment she heard about her grades.

So, if he wanted to get her back, he would have to be persistent, just like when he’d first pursued her. She had loved him once; it should be easier this time around.

Her brothers, however, were a problem. He couldn’t afford to make enemies of them. Theobald and Simon were too powerful and wealthy to mess with.
