“The trending topics have been removed, Mr. Spencer,” Kim reported over the phone to George.
The man, dressed in a white shirt, was sitting on a green sofa. He loosened his tie with one hand, his expression dark and stormy.
“Good. How long were they up?”
Kim didn't know and quickly messaged his contact at Twitter. A few seconds later, he replied, “About half an hour.”
He really didn’t understand what his boss was doing. Was he trying to be Theobald’s mother? First, he invests in his company, and now he’s getting his trending topics taken down. He might as well just transfer all his assets to him.
George’s brow furrowed, his eyes behind his glasses turning cold and shadowy. His hand sank deep into the sofa cushion.
Half an hour. Did Joshua see them?
He might not have recognized the blurry side profile from last time, but this was a clear, front-facing shot. As long as Joshua hadn’t lost his memory, he would definitely recognize her. And if he recognized her, he would come looking for her. He would.
Although Marguerite had already gone to Pinecrest High to see Joseph, and Joseph might have recognized her and told Joshua, the fact that Joshua hadn't shown up yet meant he didn't believe it.
It was inevitable that Joshua would find out Marguerite was alive. But he had hoped that day would come later, much later…
The veins on the handsome man's neck stood out, his voice dropping to a chillingly low register. “Get a message to the paparazzi in Northpine. From now on, no one is to photograph the girl with Theobald.”
A cold dread seemed to travel through the phone, and a shiver ran down Kim’s spine. “Yes, sir. The girl with Theobald?”
Not Theobald himself?
George’s eyes flashed with a dangerous light, his tone icy. “Was I not clear? Just the girl. Don’t let them photograph her. I don’t care about anyone else.”

When Marguerite returned to the villa, she called George to open the gate as usual. Theobald stood at the entrance, his hands full of shopping bags. Marguerite was also carrying a small bag.
As George opened the gate, a beautifully wrapped gift bag was extended toward him.
“George, this is for you!”
The girl’s voice was bright and cheerful, her vibrant, almond-shaped eyes sparkling as she looked at him. It was like a gentle spring rain falling on his heart. The storm of anger that had been raging inside him over the trending topics instantly dissipated.
He was so stunned that he almost didn’t move. He had to force his hand down, afraid he had misheard. “Hmm?”
Marguerite pushed the gift into his hand, the one still bearing a bandage. “It’s a gift for you! To apologize for last night, and to thank you for not only renting me a room but also letting me mooch off your food!”
