Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 144

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**

**The Morning After Mayhem**

What on earth is Marcus doing here? Emma felt her heart drop as she stood frozen in place, her eyes locked onto him as he stood there clad only in his shorts. The sight was jarring, and her gaze flicked nervously to Silas, whose arm was still possessively wrapped around her waist, anchoring her to the chaotic reality of the moment.

For a brief, disorienting moment, her mind went blank, as if she were staring into the abyss. But then, clarity surged back, and she found her voice, sharp as a blade. “Marcus, what are you doing in my bed?” The words sliced through the tense silence of the room, echoing off the walls.

Before he could even begin to formulate a response, Emma acted on pure instinct. She threw the blanket aside with a fierce determination, lifted her leg, and delivered a swift kick that sent Marcus tumbling off the bed.

“Emma, wait!” Silas’s voice rang out in alarm, but his warning came too late; he was jolted awake just in time to witness the spectacle unfold.

A loud thud reverberated through the room, punctuating the chaos.

“Ah-d*mn, that hurts!” Emma cried out, instantly regretting her impulsive action as she clutched her backside, wincing in pain. Marcus rolled onto the floor, groaning as he sat up, confusion etched across his face. Her brows knitted together in bewilderment. Why does my own rear feel like it just exploded? I kicked him, and he fell on his backside!

“Emma, are you hurt?” Silas leaned forward, concern flooding his features as he reached out to check on her. She instinctively pushed his hand away, her irritation flaring.

Marcus, still recovering from the shock, looked equally alarmed, guilt creeping into his expression. He understood all too well the mechanics of his unusual ability, and how severely her kick must have rebounded on her.

Wrapping the blanket tightly around herself, Emma shielded herself like a fortress, one hand pressed against her throbbing backside, her expression a mix of pain and humiliation. “What the hell is going on?” she demanded, her voice trembling with a blend of frustration and embarrassment.

Silas let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing his temples as he tried to make sense of the chaos. “Marcus possesses an ability that reflects any injury back onto the attacker—stronger,” he clarified, his tone serious.

Emma’s eyes widened in disbelief. Is there really such an ability?

Her gaze snapped back to Marcus, a whirlwind of thoughts racing through her mind. I never told anyone about that. How did he manage to figure it out? Marcus blinked, confusion etched on his face. “How do you even know that?”

Silas ignored him, his focus still trained on Emma. “Are you sure you’re alright? Let me check,” he urged, his voice laced with genuine concern.

Emma knew that while her kick might not have caused significant damage to a male, being female meant the rebound hit her twice as hard.

Marcus nodded quickly, his anxiety palpable. “Ms. Tibarn, my ability rebounds damage with extra force. You should let him check,” he insisted, his voice earnest.

Suddenly, heavy footsteps thundered up the stairs, and Lucien and Edric burst into the room, their expressions a mix of alarm and confusion.

“Emma, what happened?” Lucien’s gaze swept across the chaotic scene—Emma cocooned in a blanket, Marcus sprawled on the floor, and Silas crouched by the bed—and his expression tightened with concern.

Edric furrowed his brow, directing his ire at Marcus. “What the hell are you doing here?”

He couldn’t help but wonder, When did he wake up? The lake outside is still frozen solid. Can’t he just chill for five minutes?

Emma remained silent, clutching her blanket like a protective shield.

Silas sighed deeply, the beginnings of a headache forming as he attempted to summarize the disaster in a single breath.

As soon as they realized Emma was hurt, all three males turned to her, their collective concern flashing like synchronized lightning.

Lucien stepped closer, his voice softening. “Emma, let me check. You might’ve pulled something,” he offered, his tone gentle.
