Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 145

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**

**Chapter 145: Rules of Survival**

“Shut up.”

The words from Lucien struck Marcus like a hammer, freezing him in place. The intensity of Lucien’s voice carried a weight so heavy it could shatter stone.

Lucien towered over him, his presence as imposing and frigid as the very judgment he often embodied. “You do realize your ability spiraled out of control last night, don’t you?”

Marcus blinked, a wave of confusion washing over him. Out of control? Had he really lost it?

He shook his head slowly, uncertainty etched on his features. “No idea. Did I… cause any trouble?”

The calmness in Marcus’s tone only served to make Lucien’s eye twitch with irritation.

Lucien’s voice was low and measured as he probed, “You don’t lose control often, do you?”

Marcus paused, reflecting on the question. “Not really. Maybe once or twice a month.”

For the first time, Lucien’s stoic demeanor faltered. Once or twice a month? You call that ‘not really’? That’s practically a scheduled event!

With a power like Marcus’s, it was nothing short of a miracle that Frostveil remained intact—let alone its inhabitants.

Rubbing a hand over his jaw, Lucien pressed further, “What did Frostveil typically do when your ability detonated?”

Marcus reclined slightly, his voice casual as if discussing the weather. “I live on the outskirts of Frostveil, right next to Ashenfall. When I sense it coming, I make a beeline for the Pyraflow. The heat keeps the frost at bay. I stay submerged in the lava until things calm down, then I crawl out.”

He lifted his gaze, entirely unfazed by the gravity of his words. “If it happens while I’m asleep, the folks in Frostveil wake Drake and literally toss me into the Pyraflow. The heat blocks the chill, safeguarding both territories.”

Lucien stood there, a mix of disbelief and concern flickering in his eyes.

Marcus frowned slightly, a realization hitting him like a cold wave. “Recovery usually takes me a day or two. Why did it end so quickly this time? What did you do?”

He thought to himself, Lucien is the only Rank 11 here. He’s the only one powerful enough to contain the cold that leaks from me… so how did it dissipate so swiftly?

Lucien crossed his arms, his tone steady yet firm. “I didn’t do anything. I merely contained the frost you unleashed. It was Emma who provided you with comfort.”

Marcus’s head snapped up, shock written all over his face. “What?”

He sprang to his feet as if the couch had ignited beneath him. “You let Ms. Tibarn into my head? When I lose control, I’m dangerous—what if I hurt her?”

Lucien’s expression hardened. He hadn’t orchestrated any of it; by the time he had arrived, Emma was already deep within Marcus’s mental consciousness. Interrupting her would have jeopardized them both, dragging them into the chaos.

Marcus stared at Lucien, tension visibly tightening his jaw. Without another word, he moved swiftly. “I need to check on her.”
