Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 149

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 149: Dinner with the Queen**

As the Celestara Gala approached, the Empire rolled out the red carpet for every female attendee. It was a grand gesture, offering complimentary suites for each woman, her mate, and any potential suitors who dared to dream. On top of that, a continuous stream of nutrient fluid flowed freely, ensuring no one would go thirsty during this extravagant celebration. The Empire clearly understood how to transform a festival into an unforgettable experience, one that felt like a rare opportunity that might never come again.

Emma was startled from her thoughts as Laura’s voice crackled through the lightcore screen, bright and playful. “Emma! I know you’re not on F-268 at the moment, so we’ll need to meet there instead. With the starrail getting packed with travelers over the next two months, you better grab your seats quickly, or you might find yourself standing the entire journey!”

The mention of the Celestara Gala stirred something in Emma’s mind, a reminder that had almost slipped her by amidst the whirlwind of her busy life. Thank goodness for Laura’s timely nudge.

Emma chuckled, the sound light and airy. “Absolutely! Just message me when you arrive. I’ll bring that jam you can’t get enough of and hunt you down like a bloodhound!”

Laura’s grin widened, practically glowing through the screen. “You and your obsession with that jam! I’ve got a little surprise for you too. Can’t wait to see you on the Central Planet!”

As the call ended, a sense of buoyancy filled Emma. The gentle sound of running water from the bathroom caught her attention, and moments later, Lucien emerged from the shower, droplets clinging to his damp hair, a towel casually slung low around his waist.

Feeling a surge of excitement, Emma rose from her cozy reading nook and crossed the room to him, her voice shimmering with enthusiasm. “Lucien, the Celestara Gala is in just two months! I promised Laura we’d attend the main event on the Central Planet. After that, what do you think about heading back to Al?”

Lucien never hesitated to support her choices. To him, Emma didn’t need his approval for such matters; she had the autonomy to decide where they went and what they did.

He met her gaze, his voice steady yet infused with warmth. “Emma, even though I’m your first mate, this home belongs to you. There’s no need for permission. Just tell us where you want to go, and we’ll follow your lead.”

Emma had a naturally gentle demeanor, always kind and never overbearing, but that didn’t mean anyone mistook her compassion for weakness. They understood perfectly well who set the tone in their relationship.

Wrapping her arms around Lucien’s waist, she stood on her toes to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. “Then it’s settled!”

That small gesture nearly unraveled him. Every muscle in his body tightened in response. He thought to himself, I swear, if I could just give Edric my ability to help him level up faster, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Being this close to her and not being able to taste a single thing… it felt like the most torturous punishment imaginable.

“Emma,” he murmured, his voice rougher than he intended, “there’s something I wanted to discuss with you as well.”

He gently guided her back to the couch, this time not for flirtation but for a serious conversation.

“What’s on your mind?” she asked, curiosity dancing in her eyes.

Lucien settled beside her, pulling her closer. His expression shifted to one of earnestness. “The day after tomorrow is my mother’s birthday. I would really like for you to come with me to Aurelia and celebrate together. Would that be alright with you?”

Did he really need to ask her? Of course, she would be there.

Emma nodded without hesitation. “Absolutely! A day as significant as that—you shouldn’t go home without me by your side.”
