**Chapter 167 Jealousy in Bloom**

“Lucien, you’re here!”

Emma’s face brightened like the dawn breaking over a tranquil sea the moment her eyes fell on him. She grasped his hand with an exuberant smile that could light up the darkest corners of the universe.

“Lucien, this is Mr. Wynn from the Emberfox Clan. Back on F-268, he saved me once.”

Lucien was familiar with Alaric by name alone—no deeper connection existed between them. Yet, the revelation that this man had once come to Emma’s aid softened his usually stoic demeanor.

“Thank you for saving my huntress,” Lucien said, his voice steady and composed. “The banquet is about to begin. On my way here, I noticed some of your clanmates searching for you.”

His tone was courteous, almost imbued with warmth, but the underlying message was unmistakable. The first part was a gracious acknowledgment; the latter was a subtle dismissal. It was a smooth maneuver, calculated and ruthless.

“If my people are looking for me, I shouldn’t keep you,” Alaric replied, his voice carrying a hint of regret but also a sense of duty.

He turned to Emma, a smile gracing his lips that sparkled like morning dew on peach blossoms—delicate, fleeting, and impossible to overlook.

“Ms. Emma Tibarn,” he said softly, “would it be acceptable if I changed your contact name to Emy? We’re friends now, after all. Calling you Ms. Emma Tibarn feels a bit too formal.”

There was no trace of flirtation in his voice—just a genuine sincerity that made it almost impossible for her to refuse.

“Just call me Emma,” she replied hastily, a slight flush creeping up her cheeks. Emy felt too intimate, too personal, and she wasn’t ready for that yet.

Alaric nodded, unfazed by her reaction. “Then, Emma it is.”

As he walked away, Corvin’s cheeks puffed up like an agitated kitten’s, irritation radiating from him.

“He actually called our huntress Emma? I wouldn’t even dare to address her like that!”

Alaric certainly had a boldness about him—arriving and instantly attempting to claim the spotlight. It was outrageous, really.

“You could call her that too, you know,” Edric replied dryly, his tone laced with sarcasm. “She wouldn’t stop you.”

Emma had never been one to refuse them, no matter how ridiculous their antics became.

Corvin’s eyes widened in disbelief. He leaned in closer, his excitement palpable. “You mean it? I can really call her Emma?”

Edric nodded, a smirk playing on his lips. “If you don’t believe me, you can—”

But he didn’t get to finish his thought. Corvin had already launched himself from the flowerbed like a tiny blue cannonball, propelled by uncontainable enthusiasm.

“Emma!” he shouted, his voice ringing out like a bell.

Emma was in the midst of a conversation with Lucien when something small, swift, and blue came hurtling toward her, akin to a rogue projectile.

“What on earth—”

Beside her, Aria instinctively raised her hand, ready to swat away whatever was hurtling toward them.

Lucien observed the scene but chose not to intervene. He knew Aria lacked the strength to genuinely harm Corvin; at worst, he might end up with a bruise or two.

“It’s Corvin!” Emma exclaimed, recognizing the tiny blue cat immediately. She lunged forward, catching him in her hands before he could crash into her.
