**TITLE: When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley 210**
**CONTENT: Chapter 210 Waking Up Hungry**
Had she truly slept for an entire day and night simply because her exhaustion had overtaken her?
“You’ve been asleep for three days,” came the voice that broke through the haze of her slumber.
Three days? That felt surreal. The first time a female formed a bond, it was common to experience such fatigue, leading to an extended period of rest.
It was only natural, then, that Emma had succumbed to such deep sleep.
As long as her breath was even, and her body felt at ease, there was no cause for alarm.
“I slept for three days?” Emma’s voice was laced with disbelief. The last time she had lost herself in sleep for such a duration was three years prior, during a grueling week spent in the forest, hunting beasts without a moment’s pause, all in pursuit of a beast core.
“Where’s Edric?” she asked, her gaze searching Corvin’s face for answers.
Corvin had anticipated this question the moment she awoke. He replied with a calm demeanor, “Edric is in Lucien’s study. Would you like to see him? I can fetch him for you.”
He was already preparing to activate his lightcore, ready to summon Edric at a moment’s notice.
“No need,” Emma responded quickly, shaking her head. Just knowing where Edric was felt sufficient for now.
Her attention drifted downwards to the beast mark on her chest, where a small purple-black snake coiled beneath Lucien’s mark. It seemed tranquil yet serious, a silent witness to the bond she had formed.
“Corvin, I feel a bit hungry. Let’s head to the kitchen and whip up something to eat,” she suggested, the reality of her long sleep hitting her. Despite the nutrient fluids she was certain Edric and the others had provided, her stomach grumbled in protest.
“Silas has already prepared some food for you. He mentioned that you’ve been asleep far too long and advised against anything greasy. It’s all light fare. I’ll fetch it for you,” Corvin replied, his concern for her well-being evident.
Emma, still adjusting to her awakening, knew she needed to conserve her strength. Lucien and Silas had both insisted that the bonding process had drained her, recommending two more days of rest.
Corvin felt a wave of anxiety wash over him but held it back for her sake. He understood that Lucien and Silas were likely even more worried than he was.
Just as he reached the door, Silas entered, balancing a tray laden with food.
Upon seeing him, Corvin stepped aside, allowing Silas to pass.
For the past few days, they had all taken turns watching over Emma, cooking and preparing meals. Every couple of hours, someone had been tasked with making food, just in case she awoke feeling ravenous.
Behind Silas came Malrik, adorning a princess dress and a jeweled hair clip that sparkled under the light.
“Emy, you’re awake!” he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up at the sight of her rising from the bed.
As Silas placed the tray on the table, he hurried over to Emma, gently placing his fingers on her wrist. He began to send his ability into her body, checking her status.
Emma observed him in silence, her heart racing slightly.
After a moment, Silas released a sigh of relief, confirming her well-being.
With a smile, Emma reassured him, “Don’t worry. I feel fantastic now, full of energy!”
Seeing her bright smile, Silas couldn’t help but grin back. “I fed you a few flowers while you were sleeping,” he revealed, his voice light with joy.
Emma’s eyes widened in surprise. “You’re in bloom again?”
Silas nodded, a hint of mischief in his smile. “Tonight, I’ll stay with you. Can you help me pick them? Lucien has already insisted you need to rest for two more days. I’ll just keep you company; we won’t do anything too taxing.”
