Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 220

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 220: The Hidden Twin**

Lucien stepped forward with a gentle smile, his voice warm and reassuring. “Allow me the honor of escorting you back to your room so you can rest, my lady.”

Emma nodded appreciatively, her gaze flicking toward Kieran, curiosity and concern mingling in her eyes. “And where will you be sleeping tonight, Kieran?”

At the sound of her voice, Kieran’s demeanor brightened, a flicker of hope igniting within him.

“My lady,” he replied softly, a hint of reassurance in his tone, “please do not fret about me. I must return briefly to my people—to inform them of the current situation and to retrieve some necessary items from the Merfolk.”

He felt the weight of his own words as he spoke. At that moment, Kieran had nothing to offer Emma; he couldn’t allow her to continue supporting him indefinitely, not when he was fully aware of the burdens she already carried.

Lucien turned his attention back to Emma, concern etched on his face. “I will arrange for an escort to accompany him back. He is not yet fully recovered, and it would be unwise for him to travel alone.”

They had finally managed to track down the elusive merfolk king, and Lucien knew he couldn’t afford to lose Kieran again. The safety of both Kieran and Emma depended on it. Only when Kieran returned to the Merfolk unscathed would Emma’s heart be at ease.

“I’m going to sleep, then,” Emma declared, her voice firm yet gentle. “You all should consider turning in early as well.”

As she began to move toward her room, Kieran’s voice broke the silence, a hint of urgency lacing his words. “My lady, may I have a moment of your time—just the two of us?”

Edric glanced at Kieran, his expression curious yet understanding. “I’ll take my leave then,” he said, stepping away.

“Me too,” Corvin chimed in, following suit.

Lucien and Marcus exchanged glances before they too turned to exit, leaving the two alone.

Silas, who had been quietly observing, picked up the silent rabbit resting on the couch. “Emma, I’m heading back to my room as well. I think I’ll let Cotton Candy stay with me tonight.”

Once the room was devoid of all but Kieran and Emma, she turned to him, her brow furrowed in curiosity. “What is it? You can speak freely now.”

Kieran hesitated, his lips pressed together, the tips of his ears turning a shade of crimson. “My lady, I must confess. I was not entirely truthful with you earlier. It was not Malrik who hurt me; it was his younger brother, Merlin.”

Emma’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You’re telling me that Malrik has a younger brother named Merlin?”

Kieran nodded solemnly. “Indeed. Merlin is Malrik’s twin. There exists a legend among the Enchanter Clan that when twins are born, the second is often deemed ill-omened, and thus, their existence must be kept a secret.”

Emma’s mind raced, piecing together the implications of his words. “So, aside from the Enchanter Clan, no other therian clans are aware that Malrik has a brother named Merlin?”

Kieran met her gaze, his expression earnest. “Correct. I stumbled upon this information during a visit to the Enchanter Clan. Merlin is known to be ruthless—far from a good beast.”
