Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 291

**Chapter 291: Frosted Lashes**

Emma nodded in understanding, her heart racing with the urgency of the moment. As soon as he finished washing up, she stepped out of the room alongside him, the chill of the corridor wrapping around them like a cold embrace.

The instant they emerged, her eyes fell upon the sight of Drake, slumped against the icy wall in the corridor. He was curled in on himself, a fragile figure lost in a world of frost.

His complexion, already pale, appeared even more ghostly against the stark backdrop of the corridor. His lips, once a healthy shade, now bore a faint tinge of blue, a silent testament to the cold that had seeped into his very bones. A delicate layer of frost had settled on his long lashes, each tiny crystal glistening as they trembled softly with his shallow breaths.

His brows were knitted tightly together, a clear indication that even in slumber, peace eluded him. The lonely, fragile atmosphere surrounding him tugged painfully at Emma’s heartstrings, filling her with a sense of urgency and concern.

“What on earth is Drake doing sleeping out here?” she wondered, a frown creasing her brow.

Without a moment’s hesitation, she stepped forward, determination in her voice. “Drake, hey, wake up!”

At the sound of her voice, his long lashes fluttered like fragile wings. Slowly, he blinked awake, his eyes adjusting to the pale morning light.

In that soft glow, his black irises seemed almost glazed, as if he were peering through a foggy window into reality. It took a few moments for recognition to dawn on him, and when it did, a flicker of joy ignited in his expression—like discovering an oasis in an endless desert.

“Emma…” he murmured, the name escaping his lips like a soft sigh.

His voice was rough and raw, as if he had been scraping it against sandpaper, thick with exhaustion from a night devoid of sleep.

He attempted to push off the wall to rise, but his body felt stiff and unyielding from the cold. He swayed unsteadily, a fragile figure on the brink of collapse.

Emma’s instincts kicked in, and she reached out to steady him, her heart racing with concern.

He keeps calling my name. Has the medicine already worn off?

“Drake, why are you sleeping here?” she asked, her voice laced with confusion.

Doesn’t he have his own palace to retreat to?

Drake’s voice, heavy with grievance, broke through her thoughts. “I woke up… and you were gone. I got worried, so I came to find you.”

As he spoke, his gaze drifted past Emma, momentarily fixating on the room behind her where Lucien stood, his expression cool and distant. Quickly, Drake’s eyes fell to the ground, avoiding the tension that hung in the air.

“When I got here, you were already asleep,” he continued, his tone dropping to a whisper, cautious as if afraid of drawing attention. “I… I didn’t want to bother you, so I waited outside, thinking I could see you the moment you woke up. But somehow… I fell asleep.”

Once he finished, it was as if the weight of the world had settled upon him. His legs buckled, and he slumped weakly toward Emma, a fragile figure in need of support.

Emma caught him just in time, but the moment she did, a wave of cold radiated through his clothes, seeping into her palms and sending shivers up her spine.

“Emma… my head hurts…” he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Before she could respond, a long, steady hand, knuckles clean and strong, grasped Drake’s arm.
