**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live**

**Chapter 373: Preparing Marcus’ Mission**

Emma felt a chill run down her spine as she replayed the video of Lucien. He appeared unscathed, but that did little to quell the unease gnawing at her heart. Something about the way he moved, the glint in his eyes, made her pulse quicken.

“Silas,” she said, her voice trembling slightly, “could you reach out to that contact we spoke about earlier? Ask them to get in touch with Lucien and urge him to be cautious. Watching him on that screen… it makes my heart race as if I sense impending doom.” Her anxiety was palpable, each word laced with urgency.

Silas studied her, noting the way her brow furrowed with worry. “Of course, Emma. I’ll make sure to relay the message.” He had never witnessed her in such a state of distress before. Was it merely a feeling, or did Emma truly possess some kind of foresight? Was Lucien genuinely in peril?

As if on cue, Marcus arrived, flanked by Edric, Kieran, and an Aurelian doctor. The doctor wasted no time and approached Emma with a practiced demeanor.

“Emma, your health appears to be excellent. There are no signs of distress,” he assured her, his voice calm and steady.

“Thank you, doctor,” she replied, grateful yet still anxious. She gestured for Edric to escort the doctor out.

Meanwhile, Silas busily confirmed Lucien’s whereabouts. Emma turned to Marcus, her expression serious. “Lucien’s beast mark is heating up unexpectedly. You need to go find him.”

Marcus’s brow furrowed deeper as he absorbed her words. “Lucien is in danger?”

“Yes,” Emma affirmed, her voice steady yet urgent.

“Understood. Ms. Tibarn, I will locate him immediately and ensure his safe return.”

Emma handed him a storage band filled with essentials—beast cores, Silas’ special flowers, and nutrient fluids. She rummaged through her thoughts, packing everything she could think of that might assist them in their mission.

Finally, she hesitated before pulling out the Beast God’s fruit that Malrik had once entrusted to her. “Marcus, keep this safe. If either of you find yourselves in dire need, do not hesitate to use it.”

Initially, Emma had intended to give the fruit to Malrik, hoping it might aid in his recovery. However, the Aurelian doctor had warned her that Malrik had overindulged in rare medicines, and consuming the fruit could jeopardize his already fragile state.

Reluctantly, Emma had set it aside, planning to return it to Malrik once he regained his strength. Even though she had agreed to let him stay and forge a bond with her, the fruit was a symbol of his sacrifice, and she felt a strong urge to return it.

But now, with Lucien’s safety hanging in the balance, she wrestled with her fears and ultimately decided to part with the fruit, handing it over to Marcus.
