Chapter 381 Asking for an Audience
“Ugh, what the hell did those creepy bugs do to me?

“Somebody help! I don’t want to stay here. I’m not about to give birth to a bunch of bugs.”
Hearing Lily shrick, the ship’s medic hurried over, trying to steady her. “Miss, slow your breathing. This isn’t the Chitinid nest–you’re out of there. You’re aboard His Highness Veynar’s warship under the Empire, in a recovery pod, receiving treatment.”
The Empire’s fleet? Lucien? A warship? I’ve actually been rescued? Lucien had really come for me?
Lily’s terror slowly drained away, her crying tapering off. She turned her head and noticed Dahlia stretched out in the next recovery pod.
“Dahlia, you’re here too… Thank goodness.”
“Yeah, we made it out. We’re safe now.”
Watching Lily space out again, Dahlia hurried to nudge her memory, to not forget why they
came.
“Lily, we seriously owe His Highness for pulling us out of there. We’ve got to properly thank him.”
Lily instantly sobered.
“You’re right. He saved our lives. We have to show our gratitude.”
The details of how the Chitinids grabbed her were a blur. Her last clear memory was whispering with Dahlia about how to avoid being caught–then a needle–sharp sting at her neck, and blackout.
By the time she came to, she was already here.
Looking back, they’d probably been overheard as they whispered. The Chitinids had knocked them unconscious and hauled them onto their own warship.
Talk about luck…
Thank god Lucien had stormed in and pulled her out.
Catching sight of the Empire insignia on the medic’s uniform made her think of Lucien, and a rush of excitement drowned out the ache in her body.

She released the recovery pod’s seal and tried to sit up, cager to go look for him.
“Lucien’s the one who saved me. I’m going to find him an
nks in person.”
She’d already decided–she was going to form a bond with Lucien.
The medic hurriedly reached out to stop her. “Miss, you’re not cleared to leave the medical bay yet.”
Lily had only just woken and still looked dazed. Afraid she’d ruin their plan, Dahlia jumped in quickly.
“Lily, you literally just woke up. You’re still injured. Don’t run off yet. If you want to thank His Highness, wait till you’re fully recovered–it won’t be too late.”
While the medic’s attention was turned, Dahlia flicked Lily a sharp look.
Lily wasn’t completely oblivious; she understood immediately. “Okay, okay, I’ll lie back down for now.”
She sank back into the recovery pod, brooding over everything she’d gone through because of Lucien–he damn well owed her for it.
She’d heard Aurelians had some special bonding ritual that could boost a female’s level in one go. She was absolutely going to make Lucien use that Aurelian method on her.
The longer she mulled it over, the more restless she became.
All at once, she blurted to the medic, “Where’s His Highness right now? I want to see him.”
However, the medic did not know Lucien’s whereabouts. It wasn’t like he was Lucien’s aide, glued to his side all day.
“I really don’t know,” the medic replied, shaking his head.
Completely useless! Lily swore at him silently, then deliberately made her tone small and pitiful. “Could you at least check for me? I really need to talk to His Highness about something.”
“Uh…” The medic faltered under her pleading gaze, then gave in with a nod. “I can file a request for you.” Whether Lucien would actually spare her any time, though–that wasn’t up to him.
“Great. Then, go tell him right away that I want to meet him,” Lily urged, practically buzzing with impatience.

The medic shot her a puzzled glance.
Just what was this female to Lucien, anyway? From the w: thought he’d come running the moment she called.
