**Chapter 400: You’re Like a Sister To Me**
How did Dahlia come to know Calum?
The thought struck Dahlia like a bolt of lightning, igniting a storm of frustration within her.
She barely managed to keep her composure, feeling the urge to unleash her fury, risking her carefully constructed facade.
Dahlia cast her eyes downward, allowing her long, dark lashes to shield the tumultuous emotions swirling behind them. When she finally lifted her gaze, it was as if a veil of sorrow had settled over her features, transforming her expression into one of profound heartbreak.
“Lily,” she began softly, her voice barely above a whisper, “I have a secret to share with you, but you must promise that it stays between us.”
Taking Lily’s hand gently, she guided her to the couch, needing a moment to gather her thoughts and steady her racing heart. With a nostalgic tremor in her voice, she continued, “Everyone believes that Calum ventured to Beast God Mountain five years ago, but that’s not the whole truth. He actually came to the human world, and that’s where our paths crossed.”
“What?” Lily exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief as she instinctively covered her mouth with her hand, shocked by the revelation.
Dahlia managed a bittersweet smile, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears that made her appear delicate and vulnerable.
“We fell in love, Lily. For five beautiful years, we were inseparable. He treated me like I was the most precious thing in the world, promising me that he would remain by my side forever. But then, one day, he vanished without a trace, leaving no explanation behind.”
As she spoke, a solitary tear escaped her eye, trailing down her cheek like a silent testament to her pain.
“I searched every corner of the world where I thought he might be hiding, but my efforts were in vain. In the end, I resorted to extraordinary measures to traverse time and space just to find him.”
Lifting her tear-streaked face, Dahlia’s eyes were filled with a haunting mix of longing and despair. “Lily, I came here hoping to find him. I feared something terrible had happened, but I never imagined… never imagined that he would return only to pursue someone else.”
As the weight of her words settled in the air, she broke down completely, her hands covering her face as she sobbed uncontrollably.
Her slender shoulders trembled with the force of her grief, a heartbreaking sight that left Lily in a state of shock. Her mind raced, struggling to process the magnitude of Dahlia’s confession.
What had she just learned? Marshal Calum had been in the human world? And he had shared five years of love with Dahlia? Now he was back, courting Emma?
A wave of anger surged within Lily as she watched Dahlia’s heartache unfold before her. How could Marshal Calum betray Dahlia like this?
How could he abandon someone who had traversed time and space for him? How could the Beast God allow such treachery to occur?
Lily wrapped her arms around the devastated Dahlia, holding her tightly. “Dahlia, please don’t cry. If Calum can treat you like this, I believe the Beast God will see to it that he faces the consequences.”
Dahlia met Lily’s gaze, her eyes still brimming with tears.
